Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

[edit]

Dear Sariel Xilo,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Great work on D&D

[edit]

Hi Sariel Xilo, thank you for your great work on D&D in Wikidata. Here are some comments to guide your next contributions :

  • Usually, to not overload the page of the main item (for example D&D5), I don't use Derivative works and Has parts in that way.
    • But I don't think there is major problem for your indexing.
    • I think its better to improve the indexing of the individual-child items (the campaign and supplements) and link the child items with the parent item with the adapted properties (based on, part of, edition of, etc.).
  • For Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft and the other D&D5 supplements :
    • Instead of Based on, I prefer to use Expansion of.
    • Part of can be perfectly used here.
    • I think Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft is not exactly a campaign setting (but Ravenloft is). That the problem with item with multiple meanings.
  • Again, thanks for your great work. I don't want to chill down your contributions. I started a guide on indexing TTRPG here but it's a work in progress https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Pmartinolli/OtSoCG

Hi. Just wanted to give some feedback about a couple of your edits: 1, 2. From what I can tell, you wanted to add Peter Romenesko as founder/CEO but you couldn't find the item for Peter, right? In such cases, you can create the missing item yourself. The way the information is currently entered isn't how it's done, which you can tell from the fact that there's an exclamation point icon next to those two statements. If you click on that icon, you can see what's wrong: in the case of founded by (P112)human (Q5)subject named as (P1810)Peter Romenesko, the message is: Values of founded by statements should be instances of one of the following classes (or of one of their subclasses), but human currently isn't:

  • human
  • group of humans
  • fictional human
  • fictional character
  • government
  • human who may be fictional
  • legendary figure
  • person
  • magazine
  • fictional artificial intelligence

I'll leave it to you to make the necessary changes. If you need me to clarify anything else, don't hesitate to ask. Silver hr (talk) 18:09, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
