Vatican City: why?

[edit]

Langladure, on Marko Rupnik (Q614550) and also on en:Marko Rupnik, you have added the category Category:Catholic Church sexual abuse scandals in Vatican City (Q116645598).

Firstly, this general category about sex abuse is not the "topic's main category" for Marko Rupnik the person.

Secondly, what sources or evidence do you have that indicate that Rupnik's abuse was committed within the confines of Vatican City? I do not know how you could know such a thing, and I would expect that the crimes happened elsewhere in the world, such as wherever Rupnik resides or wherever the cloister of nuns was located. There are really no cloistered religious communities established within the territory of Vatican City itself, it's too small.

Therefore, I contend that your category application is inappropriate. I have reverted it here on Wikidata. Elizium23 (talk) 18:59, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, You can read this reference : here : Anna said it started with apparently harmless encounters and conversations with Rupnik, who had become her spiritual director when she was a 21-year-old medical student visiting him in his studio in Rome. She recalled how he would show her images from the Kama Sutra, ask her to pose for pictures and request kisses.
Marko Ivan Rupnik has lived mainly in Rome since 1991. I would have to complete these pages with similar sources. There was an excommunication in 2019, I believe. Otherwise we leave it like this; Langladure (talk) 19:21, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Does Rupnik live in Rome, or Vatican City? Do you realise they are two different territories? If he resides in a studio, it may be either one, but the article specifically says Rome, which is not the Vatican, and NCR would know this detail. Therefore your categories are demonstrably incorrect by virtue of the very source you've cited. This article in the Jesuit America indicates that Rupnik has resided and worked in the Centro Aletti for years, and the Centro Aletti is most definitely outside the walls of Vatican City, on the other side of the Tiber, and firmly in the territory of the city of Rome (it's one block away from Santa Maria Maggiore.) You are right. Thank you for your explanations. I'm not rigorous enough. Langladure (talk) 21:15, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
