Incorrect birth date

[edit]

The birth date is given as 13 BCE. This can't be correct, as this person's father (Germanicus) was born in 15 BCE and mother (Agrippina the Elder) in 12 BCE. Given the shared names and inconsistent information, I'm not sure which person this entry is intended to describe. --Amble (talk) 17:57, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Amble: Good catch. I'm also unable to find sources, online at least, attesting his existence. @*Treker: where does he comes from ? --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 19:03, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jahl de Vautban: Suetonius mentions Germanicus and Agrippina having a second son named Gaius who was born the year before Caligula who died just before Caligula was born. No idea why the 13 BC date was added.*Treker (talk) 19:59, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
en:Octavia_the_Younger lists a child of Germanicus, Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus Major, born between 7 and 12 AD, who died in childhood. I assume this is who we're talking about. The range of birth years must come from reasoning along the lines that Nero Julius Caesar was the first child and this Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus (Major) must have died before Caligula was born. Then we might just have an AD/BCE error. (But then again, it might be something else...) --Amble (talk) 20:02, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: do you have the exact reference? It might be a good idea to add it, at least on the life dates and father/mother. It's possible to use statements like stated in (P248)The Twelve Caesars (Q1229963) and section, verse, paragraph, or clause (P958)Cal. whatever-number-it-is (if it's the Life of Gaius). @Amble: I prefer not to trust that list : it's not sourced by anything. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 20:11, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jahl de Vautban: Of course. I was just trying to clarify who this entry is referring to; but you and Treker are already way ahead of me. --Amble (talk) 20:15, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jahl de Vautban: Yes its mentioned in Life of Gaius.*Treker (talk) 20:23, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: ok, I'll add it. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 20:56, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amble: Suetonius claims that the elder Gaius was born the year before Caligula, there were also two other boys who died in childhood, one named Tiberius and another who's name is not known.*Treker (talk) 20:16, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
