Thank you for correcting my inappropriately-detailed description which I'd copied from the corresponding wikipedia article. However, "mathematical state of a dynamical system" describes a "state", not "state variable". A state variable is a variable describing. What makes it specifically a state variable is that its value depends solely on the state (or it is a single-valued function of the state).DavRosen (talk) 14:23, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
