Could someone please add a link to
ruwiki
Sitelink: Берег
?
Thanks in advance.
The Russian Description could be changed accordingly, because the current побережье
means coast (and is linked to the corresponding English coast article). Nakonana (talk) 12:05, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- Not done, @Nakonana: ruwiki article has interwiki to en:Bank (geography) (bank (Q2897058): in geography, area between high and low tide marks, or a raised landform on the side of a stream) Estopedist1 (talk) 18:49, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking into that. The link to en:Bank (geography) is a bit of an odd choice, though, because ru:Берег is not a term that is limited to river banks or stream banks. If you check the Russian page, you'll see an image of an Ocean beach in Australia. The first sentence also describes Берег as a thin line of land along a body of water, specifically "морем, озером, водохранилищем" (sea, lake, water reservoir), or along a stream of water, specifically "рекой, временным русловым потоком" (river, temporary streambed).
- Furthermore, uk:Берег is also linking to en:Shore, and it has the exact same first sentence as ru:Берег (the word is even identical in both languages). uk:Берег specifies Берег as a line of land alongside of a(n) "океан, море, озеро, водосховище" (ocean, sea, lake, water reservoir) and "річка, струмок, тимчасовий потік" (river, stream, temporary streambed). I think, even if you are not familiar with the Carillic script, you can see the similarities between the Russian and Ukrainian description.
- Now, to make it funnier, en:Bank (geography) is linking to de:Ufer, but de:Ufer is linking to en:Shore (but not to ru:Берег).
- I think ru:Берег belongs to en:Shore rather than en:Bank (geography). The English word Bank appears to be too narrow for the meaning of the Russian word Берег which is also confirmed by the Ukrainian Берег-Shore link.
- Could it be changed? Nakonana (talk) 19:43, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Side-notice: not sure about dewiki Ufer, but this is already language-specific topic Estopedist1 (talk) 07:16, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
