About institution name changing in time
[edit]NB: I open the discussion here, since this is where I feel it should be discussed, for this specific example. There might be other places where this discussion could go. Let me know.
A few years ago, Observatoire de Paris changed name to Observatoire de Paris - PSL when it became a "component-institution" of PSL Research University. The data here have been updated accordingly, which is fine. However, this data is used in wikipedia pages concerning period of times pre-dating this administrative change. For instance, on Jean-Dominique Cassini's page [1], who was the first director of the institution, more than 350 year ago, we can read that he was the director of Observatoire de Paris - PSL. This is a plain anachronism. Would there be a way to avoid this kind of mishap?
