Ion is not similar to chemical compound

[edit]

@Infovarius: An ion can't be an chemical compound:

  • definition of chemical compound: pure chemical substance consisting of two or more different chemical elements. An ion like bromide is composed of only one chemical element. Then chemical compound as chemical substance has to be isolated in order to measure some physical properties like density, boiling point,... Unique ions can't isolated and no physical properties boiling point can be measured as ions are always found in nature under salt form.

Finally the uniqueness principle of an item in WD doesn't allow to consider an ion as a molecular entity and at the same as a family of compounds. So I don't understand on which reasonning you reverted my edit. Snipre (talk) 21:06, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your point, but I don't understand your edits. This (and some other) item is about chemical compound (mostly, may be except fr-link?) so it's better to create new items for ions. I'll going to do this soon. --Infovarius (talk) 09:36, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Infovarius: With your edit you didn't clean this item: please transfer now all the identifiers and other data related to the ion. A family of compounds can't have a SMILE or an InChIKey. The better solution would to create a new item for the family and to move all sitelinks related to the compounds family to the new item. Again, the sitelinks are not reliable to decide the concept of the item, only the statements currently present in the item have to be used. So you have to choose: move all statements or move all sitelinks. I let you the work. Snipre (talk) 15:10, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am trying to move identifiers. Some of them are not clear (compound or anion?) though. I am marking appropriate IDs for this item as "preferred" and IDs for anion as "deprecated" (may be temporarily). As for sitelinks I suppose that the rest are about compounds. So the item about anion is bromide ion (Q31208886). --Infovarius (talk) 15:39, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
