@Animalparty: can you please elaborate what exactly does it mean "This is true but trivial: non-defining category"? --Ghuron (talk) 11:35, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ghuron: The claim was based on inclusion in a Wikipedia category it shouldn't have been: rationale is described at en:WP:COPDEF: "For example, a film actor who holds a law degree should be categorized as a film actor, but not as a lawyer unless his or her legal career was notable in its own right or relevant to his acting career. Many people had assorted jobs before taking the one that made them notable; those other jobs should not be categorized." If I played soccer in junior high, should I be categorized with Pelé? Adding true-but-trivial data for high school sports or part time jobs has ramifications in cluttering infoboxes on other Wikimedia sites: the Wikidata infobox for Commons:Category:Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez currently displays "bartender" and "waitress" as occupations for someone whose notability stems entirely from politics but merely worked as such at one point in her life. -Animalparty (talk) 19:39, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Animalparty: First of all, technically claim is baseless, imported from Wikimedia project (P143) and edit description was there merely for traceability, wikipedia is not reliable source (albeit finding one for that claim is easy: [1]). Next, I don't think it is relevant to discuss whenever chinese wikipedia should follow rationale, described in en:WP:COPDEF, or not. We are in wikidata, and I'm not aware that community wants us to capture only "non-trivial, defining" claims. And finally, it doesn't look like infobox in commons:Category:Christopher Meloni displays each and every statement from this item, so some filtering already exists. If it displays imported from Wikimedia project (P143) or sport (P641) for actors, "cluttering" should be fixed in commons:Template:Wikidata_Infobox rather than in wikidata itself. Wikimedia projects are largest, but not the only consumer of wikidata. I see no reasons why Siri should not be able to answer questions like "Which position Christopher Meloni played at high-school football team?" --Ghuron (talk) 07:28, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
