I'm an engineer, so yes, but this isn't a matter of mechanics, but semantics. Rolling has two vital parts: rotation and translation. Remove either part, and it isn't "rolling" anymore. If A is a combination of B and C, it cannot be a subclass of B. Swpb (talk) 13:15, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not semantics, but frame of reference! In one frame rolling=rotation+translation, in other rolling is pure rotation. Look at the picture:
