I've removed the statement that said Kerylas was his husband[edit]
We now know that the description comes from the Suda and that it was most likely satirical, as Kerylas de Andros means, literally and excuse my French, «all-dick dick of the island of Man» according to various historians (see source). Nacaru (talk) 00:16, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Nacaru: if it’s attested somewhere I’d much prefer to keep the statement and set a deprecated rank for it. That way we can store that it is false, which is better than not storing it all. —-Jahl de Vautban (talk) 04:31, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Jahl de Vautban some infoboxes (like the one on the Spanish Wikipedia) automatically import statements even if they're deprecated. I'd prefer to keep it empty to avoid misleading potential readers. Nacaru (talk) 11:31, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Nacaru: then its the infoboxes that should be fixed, not the data. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 09:36, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Jahl de Vautban I don't think there is a way to prevent the importation of deprecated statements as of now. Nacaru (talk) 09:38, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Nacaru: I mean yes? It's the whole point of deprecrated/normal/preferred statement, only the best one(s) should be imported. Ernest Renan (Q157155) currently has one normal and one deprecated statement for his birth date; if you go on es:w:Ernest Renan, erase the hard-coded data about his birth date and visualize the changes, you'll see that only the statement which isn't deprecated is imported, not both. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 11:20, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Jahl de Vautban the problem arises when there's only one deprecated statement and nothing else, not when there's a preferred statement, which wouldn't be the case here. Nacaru (talk) 14:32, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- Well anyway Wikidata doesn't compromise with specific needs from specific templates in a given project, so I have added Cercolas as deprecated and put unknown value as a normal rank. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 19:37, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
