Stange enwb linkage[edit]
I believe that this bot edit was erroneous - at least as far as concerns the enwikibooks entry. (My knowledge of Chinese is almost non-existing, and I cannot evaluate the simultaneously added zhwb item.) The page b:Optics (whose link was removed) indeed is about optics (in the ordinary sense of the word), but the b:Wave/Light isn't quite. The latter page is more concerned about the theoretic physical properties of light, than of how light behaves. Of course, these subjects are not quite unrelated; the theoretical properties form a kind of base for optical properties of lenses; but the waves light article never get there.
IMHO, in all, the book b:Waves is a better book than b:Optics. Others also have noted that the former is in a much more finished state, to begin with. However, the waves book is broader, about many kinds of waves, while the optics is outlined to be more specialised on light, and on optics in a more proper sense. The book waves as a whole might be preferred for such reasons. However, I'm not that sure a better but slightly off-topic book should be preferred for the wikidata linkage.
Besides, b:Waves has six sections collected under the term b:Waves#Geometrical optics; but b:Wave:Light is not one of these. Instead, the item Q14620 links to is one of the sections under the heading Waves in one dimension.
To sum up: The change from b:Optics to b:Waves/Light was bad. Restoring the former link is one option. A more careful choice of some subpage of (or section in?) b:Waves might be another option; but leaving the link to the Light subpage isn't. JoergenB (talk) 18:00, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
