A short fictional story with the intent to make people laugh[edit]

A "short fictional story with the intent to make people laugh" is called "anekdot" in many Slavic languages. Having a separate word for it is the only Slavic thing about anecdote joke (Q2374151).

Such short funny stories, funny phrases, practical jokes, April Fool's Day jokes are called “шутка” (shutka) in Russian and "жарт" in Belarusian and Ukrainian.

This item's different descriptions and links seem to refer to both the general concepts and short stories.
