Correct identification of this object[edit]

The correct identification of some NGC objects is difficult due to errors and misunderstandings of the original observer and of the astronomers that, during time, made and re-analysed the data.

Use the information of different sources, NGC 5100 has different identifications. Following the prescription of NGC/IC project NGC 5100 has also the name of NGC 5106 and it is the galaxy UGC 8389 also named PGC 46599.
