Ernst Schwerin was the second son of the doctor Moritz Schwerin and his wife Hulda Schottländer. He graduated in medicine and married the doctor's daughter Jeanette Abarbanell. Together with his wife, Schwerin participated in the foundation of the "German Society for Ethical Culture" and was on the board of the Berlin Crafts Association for a long time, one of the founding fathers of which was his father-in-law. This picture was taken 10 years after his wife's death. He dedicated it to his sister-in-law Klara Antonie Schwerin, who had her birthday on July 6 and was already widowed. Ernst Schwerin married Klara Schröder in a second marriage. (English)
