The foundation of this town, known formerly as Malaquing Tubig, dates from 1765. The church was built by the famous botanist, The Rev. Manuel Blanco, O.S.A., in 1812. The stone bridge over Malaquing Tubig was constructed by the Rev. Bruno Laredo, O.S.A. (English)
