Unang ipinahayag ng mga Agustino ang ebanghelyo sa ngayo’y lalawigan ng Batangas, 1572. Naging bahagi ng Obispado ng Maynila, 1579 at Arsobispado ng Maynila, 1595. Itinatag ang Obispado sa pamamagitan ng dekretong konsistoryal “Novas Erigere Ecclesias” ni Papa San Pio X, sakop ang lalawigan ng Batangas, Laguna, Tayabas, at Mindoro, 10 Abril 1910. Naging katedra ang Lipa. Giuseppe Petrelli, D.D., unang obispo, Abril 1910 – Marso 1916. Alfredo Verzosa, unang Filipinong obispo, 1916–1950. Naging arsobispado na binubuo ng lalawigan ng Batangas, 20 Hunyo 1972. Alejandro Olalia, unang arsobispo. (Tagalog)
