The Edgar P. Richardson records, 1930-1962 (English)
These records are primarily the administrative correspondence of Edgar P. Richardson as assistant director and director of the Detroit Institute of Arts. They also include his activities as co-founder of the Archives of American Art and as a member of various national and local organizations. A broad range of activities is reflected, including the daily operation of the museum, its governing bodies, departments and staff. Expertising, acquisitions, exhibitions and finances are also covered. Material transferred to the Central Files includes a manuscript of The Way of Western Art, press releases, minutes of the board of trustees and the Arts Commission. Additional records are located in the Archives of American Art. (English)
