Scope[edit]

Please explain when to use this property, and when main subject (P921)? Or simply uses (P2283). --Infovarius (talk) 16:30, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • main subject (P921) is to be used to indicate what a narrative work is about. This property is to be used to indicate the literary motifs (narrative motif (Q1697305), meaning recurring elements that are used to develop theme or mood. E.g. in Nabokov's Lolita butterflies are a central motif linked, besides others, to Lolita's fragility. But the butterfly is not a main subject (it is not a subject at all). If in doubt you can consult secondary sources and check if they deem a literary element a motif or not. uses (P2283) does not have a defined use for narrative works. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 07:40, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
