URLs?
[edit]I've put some links to press releases in URL (P2699) or archive URL (P1065) qualifiers, as in ARM Cortex-A75 (Q39052876). That seems to go with other permitted qualifiers like volume (P478). I suppose they could go as references instead (which is what I'd do for 3rd party articles about the announcement). Ghouston (talk) 09:40, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
Since there doesn't seem to be any objection, I'll add URL (P2699), archive URL (P1065) and archive date (P2960) as allowed qualifiers. Ghouston (talk) 01:44, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Announcement by exhibiiton
[edit]One other I haven't figured out is Rockchip RK3399 (Q28057938), where a product was apparently announced by information presented at a show booth, in this case at CES 2016 (Q28149988). Since this item is an event, not a location, place of publication (P291) isn't right. I put it for now on distribution format (P437), which doesn't look good either. Ghouston (talk) 01:53, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
I found exhibition history (P608), which seems suitable. I'll add that as a qualifier too. Ghouston (talk) 02:00, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- I had a similar issue with modeling video games announced at an event ; I was suggested to go with location (P276) − see eg Q64577191#P6949. It does feel a bit weird with online events such as for Q96240948#P6949. Jean-Fred (talk) 13:08, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Ghouston: I think this is the qualifier you were looking for, see announced at (P9731). Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 00:08, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
- That's fine, I see it was only created this month. I guess exhibition history (P608) isn't needed as a qualifier then. Ghouston (talk) 07:28, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Announcement of part of an item
[edit]I am working on a concert and the live video album of it which share the same name and Wikipedia entry, and the concert and the recording are announced separately, so I'd like to use applies to part constraint with this property. I could create separate items for the concert and the live video album, but that requires duplicating a lot of information for a lot of concert and live video album pairs produced this way in Japan. Fridsun (talk) 03:17, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
I have noticed that "of (applies to)" can be used with this, but as claimed in that page it is preferred to use more specific constraints. In that light I think it is proper to add "applies to part" to the list of allowed constraints. Fridsun (talk) 03:26, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Fridsun: A Wikidata item should be about a well-defined single entity, in this case, either the concert or the album. If both are wanted, it should be two items. Ghouston (talk) 04:32, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
