Is this the channel or network?[edit]

On one line it the info block says "official IRC channel of an institution or project", on the next one it's "IRC network (Q73) it is using", so which one is it? There's a difference between "this projects channels are generally on the Freenode network" and "this projects channels are #foo, #foo-dev, etc.". Unfortunately the example value doesn't really help in answering this question.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mineo (talk • contribs).

@Mineo: We have a discussion about that at: Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Informatics#IRC_channel. You are more than welcome to join the discussion. --Tobias1984 (talk) 13:42, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thematic IRC channels?[edit]

Should this property be used for thematic IRC channels such as ##esperanto on freenode.net for Esperanto (Q143)? I can't see why not, but I'd like to run it through other people first. ~nmaia d 20:21, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, then it'll be like subreddits: there can be more than one, distinguished by qualifiers. Arlo Barnes (talk) 05:31, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
