Potential qualifiers
[edit]@GZWDer: When I began designing my own proposal for a model lexeme (which I didn't manage to finish before your proposal was approved), I imagined it would be convenient to select desired language via qualifier language of work or name (P407), to allow the main value to be a part of speech, a grammatical feature or some other linguistic concept for which a large number of similar lexemes could benefit from some carefully chosen models.
However, I realize now that selecting the language via the "dct:language" claim of the lexeme itself may be just as easy as accessing a qualifier in SPARQL, if noy easier. Therefore I wonder: Do you see any point in retaining this qualifier for some other reason, such as providing a lexeme of a particular language as a model for an entire family of languages (including many small languages that may not yet have a substantial number of lexemes created). The property language of work or name (P407) seems to accept any instance or subclass of languoid (Q17376908), according to the constraints.
Are there other qualifiers that could potentially be useful with the model lexeme (P11464) property? I recently initiated an effort to improve the quality of model items by proposing "item of insufficient quality" as a new reason for deprecated rank (P2241), with the intent of monitoring existing model items for gradually falling below the expected standard and temporarily deprecating their model status until the problems detected have been resolved. Obviously, the same method could be used with model lexemes, and as part of this effort we are also proposing a qualifier applies to property that could be useful with either model item (P5869) or model lexeme (P11464) to specify the subset of items/lexemes the model is meant to represent. Maybe you can take a look and give us your feedback on that proposal? --SM5POR (talk) 15:23, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
