Comuni statunitensi[edit]

--Ricordisamoa 08:25, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please ...[edit]

have a look at my discussion page. --Goldzahn (talk) 13:06, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated wikidata useful.js. If you look into the code, you will see that after discovering the webpage http://coursesweb.net/jquery/jquery-basics I have used lots of jQuery commands. I have tested the new code and I think it should be OK. Would you inform me, if you see something wrong? I think the next improvements will be, to move what is now in the top right corner into a second file and import only the parts the user want to use. In this way, maybe some kind of scripting could be possible. In Wikidata, we have translations of the names of the properties and items. Since you showed me how to use them, maybe it is possible to tell the tool to use those translations. --Goldzahn (talk) 04:39, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stemmi comunali[edit]

--Ricordisamoa 18:44, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mass edits[edit]

Could you please stop editing so many items in such a short period of time, because you are spamming RC? And it seems like you are using a script. If you want to edit many items without checking every edit you should create a bot account and request a botflag for it. --Sk!d (talk) 18:24, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have approved your bot request. --Sk!d (talk) 09:51, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bot flag[edit]

Hi, your bot got the botflag but it doesn't use it as far as I see. Could you please modify it so it does not flood recent changes and watchlists any more? -- Bene* talk 09:31, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure? I see that Docu is flooding recent changes, not my bot. --Viscontino (talk) 09:34, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This edit appeared on my watchlist without bot flag. -- Bene* talk 09:36, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it seems that I thought to be using this account (I'll be more careful). But, hey, flooding RC and watchlists is not possible with one single edit... --Viscontino (talk) 09:41, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Anyhow bots should use botflags if they got it. ;-) -- Bene* talk 09:43, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How can I use it (the bot flag) if I want to do an edit like that one? Is it something in the settings? --Viscontino (talk) 09:46, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Do you use a specific framework? Otherwise append bot=true to the url and the bot flag will be set. -- Bene* talk 09:50, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

P447 and P446[edit]

I apologize. My rationale was this: GameRankings compiles scores only for games, and Metacritic doesn't. Metacritic compiles scores for films, music, games and other types of visual and interactive media. Also, I realized that when using the 'aggregate score' property, I'd have to specify the scorer (GR or MC) and specify the platform, and this was not a good way to write the data. As I said, I apologize because I did not think of it appropriately when I did my proposal. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 17:06, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think that this should be fixed. A normal person doesn't know that GameRankings compiles scores only for games and Metacritic compiles scores for other kind of things (they could change at any time, by the way!). And also, in the future we may have to add another 'aggregate score' website property. I think we need only one property: p444 (review score), with p447 'score by' and other qualifiers such as the platform. I think it's the best use of properties and qualifiers. --Viscontino (talk) 18:26, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I decided to do it mainly because I saw that we have a property for IMDB, and another for Filmaffinity, which are more or less the same in structure as GR and MC. The issue is that review score doesn't work for GameRangkings or Metacritic because those two doens't write reviews, they just compile them, and the review score property is only to be used with the individual publications, and score by to identify those publications. Take a look at 007 Legends to see how I intended to use the properties GR score and MC score :) — ΛΧΣ21 20:34, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And my error list of GND values nearly exploded today because of your bot adding P107:Term to many asteroids. There are already marked as Q618123 which is afaik the correct value e.g. GND gives Jupiter the same value. Also you should check if there is already a GND value so that this: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=User:Sk!dbot/GND-conflict&diff=30382186&oldid=29920295 does not happen. --Sk!d (talk) 07:30, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm deeply sorry for this problem caused by my bot. I do a check before adding a claim and it always did it correctly. In fact, in case the claim already exists it skip to the next operation. I hope that this won't happen anymore and I'll be more careful, I promise. --Viscontino (talk) 08:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Empty "file" properties[edit]

Hi Viscontino,

Bot: Property Property:P225[edit]

this edit is wrong. All pages are disambiguation pages, the plant is this item: Q542456. Moreover, if there is already a entry for Property:P225, do not add another one. Either, the interwiki links are wrong or there might be some problems with synonyms. However, if you add additional scientific names, it is no longer clear what the item stands for. FelixReimann (talk) 14:27, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For example here. Best solution would be to just add those items to a page for manual checking. Increasing ambiguity bot-based leads only to more manual work. Please try to avoid this.FelixReimann (talk) 14:55, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Postal code[edit]

I just found on several pages the (incorrect) import of the postal code, eg http://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q641&oldid=36435372. the Italian 'da' xxxx 'a' yyyy should be replaced by a language independent range indication such as xxxx-yyyy. RobotMichiel1972 (talk) 17:02, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, but since I took the data from infoboxes, it happens that someone added something in a different way than the others, so the best thing is to do a manual edit of such claims... still better than check every single article on Wikipedia. --Viscontino (talk) 08:34, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Timezone in Sweden[edit]

Re: This. Sweden has only one timezone, so I think the need for P421 in every item related to Sweden is low. What we need is instead some kind of relation between these items and Q34. At the moment, I do not know exactly how. --Lavallen (block) 15:05, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're right but even for Italy or other countries there would be the same problem. But it's not possible to solve this using your proposal because many countries have different timezones and it'll difficult to set the correct ones to the right places. And also, some users, like me, don't know that Sweden has only one timezone, so if I want to know that city's timezone I don't have to go to the country's item page. --Viscontino (talk) 08:39, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A recursive function in the hierachy of P:P131 until we reach an item with P421 should do the trick. The problem is if Sweden suddenly change timezone. (Remove the DST for example, which I would prefer.) Then we maybe have to identify every item with "wrong" timezone, and I do not know how we should be able to do that. At the moment, I do not know exactly how to use P131 in Swedish provinces. They are outside the administrative hierarchy, so they are tricky in themself. -- Lavallen (block) 09:58, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And postal codes always have 5 digits in Sweden. -- Lavallen (block) 13:29, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's because on the italian Wikipedia infobox there was just that partial code. Why did you remove this image by the way? --Viscontino (talk) 13:59, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It is related to Karlskrona Municipality and Karlskrona City, not to the urban area of Karlskrona. Urban areas never have a COA. -- Lavallen (block) 14:05, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Property:P107[edit]

Hello Viscontino, your bot added in some cases a second Property:P107 for family names.

  • GND, Type n (names, disambiguation) is correct

GND, Type s (term) is incorrect. Cheers --Kolja21 (talk) 19:18, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop incorrect edits on page Moscow[edit]

Hello! Moscow have never used dialing codes 496 and 498. The only code of Moscow is 495 (before 2000s it was 095) and since 2000s also 499. Codes 496 and 498 are used only in Moscow Oblast (and sometimes 495). --TarzanASG (talk) 02:43, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for notifying, but it's not the job of a bot to correct Wikipedia (imported from: Italian Wikipedia). You have to correct the article it:Mosca: "Prefisso: +7 495, 496, 498, 499". --Kolja21 (talk) 11:05, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, same error on ru.wikipedia. Are you sure that what you're saying is correct TarzanASG? --Viscontino (talk) 12:30, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I sure. Moscow are currently using only 495 and 499. Also check 496 code on Rostelecom page. Calls between 495 and 496 are non-free inter-city long distance calls. English Wikipedia article is correct: Moscow City has two area codes assigned: 495 and 499. This document about Russia's National Numbering Plan on ITU website can confirm it. And there is some additional information: [4], [5], [6] and [7] (note, 498 code for non-Moscow territory between MKAD and Moscow Forest Park Ring). --TarzanASG (talk) 17:09, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate claim being added by ViscoBot[edit]

Sometimes (see here for an example on Q1631280 "Portas"), ViscoBot adds a duplicate claim for Property:P242 "locator map image". This is not desirable because 1) only one item gets a source and 2) the item gets added to Wikidata:Database reports/Constraint violations/P242. Nuove proprietà "Emigrato in" e "Emigrato in data"[edit]

Buongiorno Viscontino,

Facevo l'esempio: Rudolph Valentino (Q188692) emigrato negli United States of America (Q30) e Rudolph Valentino (Q188692) è emigrato il 23 dicembre 1913.

Ad oggi nessuno si è espresso in modo non favorevole e per questo Ti chiedevo se potevi creare la proprietà. Ovviamente se lo ritieni opportuno e se secondo te è una buona idea.

Ciao e grazie!! LucaBiondi (talk) 22:31, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

French time zone[edit]

Viscobot has added the relation located in time zone (P421) -> +1 (Q410147) to several hundred French places. However +1 (Q410147) is a disambiguation page, and all the items should actually link to UTC+01:00 (Q6655). Could you please replace the correct item. Thanks. Invitation to Wikidata user study[edit]

Dear Viscontino,
I am a researcher of the Web and Internet Science group of the University of Southampton.
Together with a group of other researchers from the same University, we are currently conducting a research aiming to discover how newcomers become full participants into the Wikidata community. We are interested in understanding how the usage of tools, the relationships with the community, and the knowledge and application of policy norms change from users' first approach to Wikidata to their full integration as fully active participants.
This study will take place as an interview, either by videotelephony, e.g. Skype, phone, or e-mail, according to the preference of the interviewees. The time required to answer all the questions will likely be about an hour. Further information can be found on the Research Project Page Becoming Wikidatians: evolution of participation in a collaborative structured knowledge base.
Any data collected will be treated in the strictest confidentiality, no personal information will be processed for the purpose of the research. The study, which has submission number 20117, has received ethical approval following the University of Southampton guidelines.
We aim at gathering about 20 participants, chosen among experienced Wikidata users who authored a large number of contributions.
Should you be interested in taking part or wish to receive further information, you can contact us by writing to the e-mail address ap1a14+wikidata_user_study@ecs.soton.ac.uk.
Thank you very much, your help will be much appreciated!

If you consent to the removal of the bot flag (or do not reply on the deflag page) you can rerequest the bot flag at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot should you need it again. Of course, You may request retaining your bot flag here if you need the bot flag. Regards--GZWDer (talk) 12:45, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Property creation[edit]

Hi Vennor. If you have a moment, would you look into some of the requests for non-identifier properties at Category:Properties ready for creation? If you click "create" on properties I proposed, I could complete them myself. --- Jura 09:20, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks once more. Don't hesitate if you want to do another one. If you click "create", I'd complete non-identifier properties I had proposed. --- Jura 11:18, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
