Merging items[edit]

Hallo Nurni,

If you were not already using it, you may want to check out the merge.js gadget for merging items. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically nominate the page you are merging from for deletion. This way of nominating also makes it easier for the admins to process such requests. For support and other options you can check the help page about merging.

New paintings[edit]

Hi Nurni, thanks for creating new painting items like Three Saints: Barbara, Bartholomew and Dorothy (Q21509272). Could you do two things for me if you're going to create more items?

  1. If the painter is anonymous please use anonymous (Q4233718)
  2. Add the collection (P195) also as a qualifier of inventory number (P217)

Thank you! You might also like Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings. Multichill (talk) 16:34, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, thank you for all this artworks. It's a great pleasure to discover them. --Shonagon (talk) 20:19, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. BTW, I would like to thank you for Crotos which's absolutely great artwork search engine and very useful tool. I use it every single day. Nurni (talk) 16:39, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Are these paintings?[edit]

Hi Nurni, check out this list. I'm quite sure most of the item in this last are paintings. Could you check and maybe add the instance of painting to the right items? That way these get on the radar. Multichill (talk) 22:06, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Q3680199[edit]

You have edited the item which connects two different people. The same pepople are described in Q3680198.Xx236 (talk) 13:00, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jay Chou[edit]

Can you explain, why you reverted this? Thank you Teemeah (talk) 12:33, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please, use specific person with child (P40). girl (Q3031) is a subclass of person (it represents every girl on the world). Maybe you should use number of children (P1971) instead. Nurni (talk) 13:29, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. Teemeah (talk) 11:06, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Anna Báthory[edit]

Hi, why have you merged Q6423197 into Anna Báthory (Q853643) ? Those are two different people as you can see from their dates. Please revert your changes. --Melderick (talk) 01:55, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to mythology[edit]

Hi, did you remove the link to mythology on Celtic mythology (Q1106575) because you believe I should've used "part of" instead of "subclass" or because you don't believe they should be linked? In the former case, I think I might agree and I'll change the links to say "part of". --Azertus (talk) 10:25, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Answ[edit]

Yes. I have the "argument" of queries still not working well with double queries (query for subclass of whatnot( wdt:P279/wdt:P279*) U situated within administrative unit (wdt:P131/wdt:P131*) of whatnot?) behind. What reason do you have for eliminating building (Q41176) and not church building (Q16970) when you have still Eastern Orthodox church building (Q2031836)?--Asqueladd (talk) 19:21, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Precision[edit]

Be careful Nurni, on several paintings like Saint Jerome as Scholar (Q19856861), Adoration of the Magi with Camels (Q18221011) & The Immaculate Conception (Q16615831) you set the wrong precision. Multichill (talk) 15:41, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of museum[edit]

Hi Nurni, I don't think you should be mass removing like you did here. This feels an awful lot like the category intersections making things unfindable on Wikimedia Commons. In this case your edit is plain correct. Rijksmuseum used to be a national museum, but hasn't been one for many years. The museum houses over a million artefacts so is much more than an art museum. I'm sure if I go to your auto edit list I can find many more of these mistakes. The de facto convention right now is that we stop the splitting up into smaller parts stops at the museum level, you broke that now. Can you please revert your edits and restore the instance of (P31) -> museum (Q33506). Multichill (talk) 10:24, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please respond? Multichill (talk) 22:08, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Strange Merge[edit]

Hello Nurmi. Thanks for you many good merges that I'm currently checking (regularly, I check all new artworks merges ). For this one https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q11821763&diff=472148895&oldid=433086133 I have a big doubt. Is there something wrong somewhere ? Maybe The Christ Child (Q21532088) was a part of Annunciation with the Unicorn Polyptych (Q11821763) and in that case part of (P361) could maybe be used. Best regards --Shonagon (talk) 06:25, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Now this property is for a creative work's genre or the genre in which an artist works. I propose to separate Wikidata:Property proposal/genre in which an artist works, but there is no support. Why did you revert my edits [2]? --Oude-rusman (talk) 13:05, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Oude-rusman: P136 can be used with persons and artworks, it's ok. But art of painting (Q11629) is a method of creation of artworks, not a genre of art. You should use genre painting (Q214127), portrait painting (Q1400853), landscape art (Q191163) etc. with P136. Nurni (talk) 13:32, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please be aware that with such edits you remove sources (and probably also qualifiers) that were provided in the statements. It does not appear to matter much in this case, but it is definitely something to keep in mind. --Zolo (talk) 15:42, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

--FloraFlavia (talk) 14:59, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(Q29538275) --FloraFlavia (talk) 15:00, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@FloraFlavia: I don't speak Italian, so I'm not sure if I correctly understood your problem. We have 3 parts of 1 "cassone":
  • A = , from MET [3] (inv. no. 1986.147)
  • B = , from MET [4] (inv. no. 43.98.8)
  • C = the part from The Berenson Collection
A and B are described in Chess player's novella (Q29538275). Right?
IMO, element Chess player's novella (Q29538275) should describe the whole "cassone" (A+B+C). Additionally, there should be 3 separate elements, each describing one part of "cassone" (A, B and C). Chess player's novella (Q29538275) needs to have a statement has part(s) (P527) with a value A, B and C, while every element corresponding to separate parts of "cassone" needs to have a statement part of (P361) with a value Chess player's novella (Q29538275). Hope this help.

Hello! How come you reverted information about VIAF ID 22155136 for Franc Zadravec? --Romanm (talk) 20:07, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Widow of Zarephath (Q6605722) talks about a woman! not a Miracle!! We have Raising of the son of the widow of Zarephath (Q30075359) for the miricale--Mikey641 (talk) 08:52, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikey641: No, it doesn't! English wikipedia taks about biblical episode: "The raising of the widow of Zarephath's son is a miracle of the prophet Elijah recorded in the Hebrew Bible, 1 Kings 17.". If like, you can add new items about characters from the episode. Nurni (talk) 08:59, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it does. Just because the english wikipedia linked to the wrong item doesn't make it right, in 4 languages: german, hebrew, greek and russian, the article talks about the woman/widow, just because the great english wikipedia decides not to talk about the woman but about the rising of her son, doesn't mean they can change the item to what they talk about, other wikipedias are not less important--Mikey641 (talk) 18:29, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bust and sculture[edit]

Hi Nurni, you reverted my edit and i have a question. Where is relation between portrait at bust length (Q241045) and sculpture (Q860861)? I don't see it now. Skim (talk) 18:43, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, i see bust (Q17489160), which is sculpture representation of bust. Both of this items has link to same Commons category, which is bad in this case. Skim (talk) 07:42, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Creator of Q30006630 and some other items[edit]

I see some of the paintings you edited popping up at Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Creator missing collection authority control. You added a creator to Portrait of Constance of Austria in coronation robes. (Q30006630), but what did you use as a source? The museum says something anonymous and the RKD has a rejected attribution for Pieter Soutman. Are you using some other source that is not linked? @Multichill: Hi, I added a creator based on commons.

@Ankry: Odpowiedż na pierwsze pytanie to Duchy of Poland (Q11784930). Popatrz zresztą na hasło King of Poland (Q3273712) i obszar jurysdykcji.
Ankry (talk) 23:34, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bust of Camilla Barbadoni[edit]

Bust of Camilla Barbadoni actually happens to be a bust, so why did you revert? --Hjart (talk) 11:23, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Hjart: portrait at bust length (Q241045) is an art genre. Bust of Camilla Barbadoni is not an art genre, it's a sculpture. Nurni (talk) 11:28, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really understand the difference. To me this belongs to a very specific type of sculpture called "bust". We also have the very similar bust item.--Hjart (talk) 12:17, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think you misunderstand portrait at bust length (Q241045), which happens to be a subclass of (P279) of portrait (Q134307). Bust of Camilla Barbadoni is a specific case of portrait at bust length (Q241045)/bust (Q17489160). The system works the same way for buildings, roads, etc btw.--Hjart (talk) 12:30, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nurni, I've noticed

  1. you have or are moving the class visual artwork (Q4502142) one level down under artificial physical object (Q8205328) and
  2. use visual artwork (Q4502142) directly, e.g. on polyptych (Q1278452).

Both might have problems and isn't a very good idea in my eyes:

  1. this gets problematic for works of video art (Q682010), virtual art (Q7935068) some works of conceptual art (Q203209) which aren't defined through their physical manifestation and so on,
  2. I liked to keep at least one “art”-free class tree for those objects like polyptych (Q1278452) and so on, “art” is all but well-defined and the use of the term brings problems without advantages I think.

Before further proceeding, it might be worth to discuss those higher classes at Wikidata talk:WikiProject Visual arts. What do you think? (The earliest related discussion which already touched those problems is afaik Wikidata talk:WikiProject Visual arts/Item structure#Root item.) Plant-derived motif[edit]

I'm not sure why you changed plant-derived motif (Q43116871) to subclass of "artistic theme" and left the reference to the AAT. AAT specifically has it as a subclass of "motif" which I have added back - I'm slowly building out the AAT hierarchy for designs, patterns, and motifs. I've left artistic theme as an additional subclass. - PKM (talk) 22:12, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rock paintings: genre of paintings?[edit]

I am updating Finnish archaeological heritage items as part updates for Wiki Loves Monuments. In relation to this I also work on the typologies of Finnish archaeological items. I find it problematic that you have mass edited instance of (P31) statements from cave painting (Q214334) to painting (Q3305213) and made cave painting (Q214334) the genre (P136) of the item. I think this is forcing to regard the items as visual arts only, and preventing from taking advantage of the semantics of archaeology. I would argue that for visual arts purposes it would be possible to query also cave painting (Q214334) as subclass of (P279) painting (Q3305213). Let's discuss! – Susanna Ånäs (Susannaanas) (talk) 08:10, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

You have added different from (P1889), but how is Petrus Dorlandus (Q577408) different from Peter van Diest (Q2984676)? They have the same dates, the same ids and both nl wiki say it's an alias.

We should add said to be the same as (P460) and ask nlwiki to merge them. — eru [Talk] [french wiki] 14:27, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WE-Framework[edit]

Pozwala edytować element podczas oglądania artykułu w innym projekcie, dając wiele usprawnień i wygody. Bardzo polecam. Matlin (talk) 22:06, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sejm-wielki.pl[edit]

Or @Чаховіч Уладзіслаў:. Matlin (talk) 10:26, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Emu Nurni should be banned by you XD Matlin (talk) 13:39, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Emu, please ban Nurni until(s)he answers. Matlin (talk) 08:56, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Or Nurni, run this batch, or just say: No, i don't want to do it. I will understand this. Matlin (talk) 09:00, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
EOT Nurni (talk) 09:08, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nie spamuję, czekałem aż odpiszesz (11 października - 16 października - 28 października). Wg Emu trzeba odpisywać, bo inaczej konto jest blokowane. Poza tym skąd pomysł o "prywatnych bataliach"? Nie prowadzę żadnej.
@Emu: Nurni used non-constructive answer (see in translator) and semi-personal attack.. He is not blocked, nor warned, while I am, even not doing anything wrong. You can see what the campaign led by, among others, by you, Kolja and other German-speaking users. Users are prejudiced against me. I am writing to them - they have a grudge. I don't write anything - they have a grudge, they block me. This is absurd.
For the last few days I have been sacrificing my mental health (palpitations, nightmares, somatic pains ...) to write something, but you can see that it does not bring anything positive (and it is not my fault, at least in large part). You interrupted my work so that I should "respond" - for no purpose. Any error was removed because of constructive parts of my responds. This is terrible. Matlin (talk) 11:15, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Matlin (talk) 18:18, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nurni really doesn't answers. There are not "responded" topics: [6], [7], [8]. I will check another later. (for now, however, I do not want to XD) Matlin (talk) 11:34, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Karol Stromenger (1885-1975)[edit]

Witaj. Dotyczy powyższego, występuje dwukrotnie jako "Q96748598" i "Q112326690". Nie wiem jak tego "Q112326690" skasować. Dzięki z góry za ewentualną pomoc. pozdr 95.116.138.163 16:13, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
