Wrong language?[edit]

Hi there. I assume you meant to add this as the English description to Barack Obama? In this particular case, there's already a good English description, so if you don't mind I'm just going to revert you, but, in general, if you'd like to more easily add labels and descriptions for other languages, you can enable the "labelLister" script in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets - otherwise, you can add labels and descriptions by changing the display language in the toolbar in the top of the screen, but labelLister is more efficient. In addition, if you have any questions about descriptions, you might want to read Help:Descriptions. Anyways, nice to meet you, and happy editing! — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 01:32, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for the greetings and for the explanation. I couldn't see any description, so I assumed there wasn't any. That's why I added the description and thought it would be more useful in English than in Hebrew. Anyway, now I understand that the language of the description is related to the user's default one. I enabled the gadget you mentioned and hope for the best. Bye, Ldorfman (talk) 11:54, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the above. --  Docu  at 21:41, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Didn't know that it is wrong. Bye the way, how come there's an interwiki from my userpage in Wikidata to Kiryat Motzkin? Who made it? Ldorfman (talk) 23:58, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Technically, it was actually correctly set up. You can still add the interwikis to your user page directly.
As to link to the article, there is a ":" missing in the link to that page: if you replace "[[en:" with "[[:en:", it should be fine. --  Docu  at 06:50, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think I was misunderstood. Instead of transfering to my user page in the Hebrew Wikipedia (or in the English Wikipedia), the interwiki transfers to an unrealated article - the one about my hometown, Kiryat Motzkin. That's the problem. Ldorfman (talk) 07:41, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed a few links and interwikis to your en: and he: user pages. Tricky thing with these colons (":"). I hope it looks as you prefer. --  Docu  at 19:29, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I checked it and now it is fine indeed. Thank you! Ldorfman (talk) 21:01, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Boulevard du Temple[edit]

Hi Ldorfman. I didn't complete the request as Q848570 is an item about the daguerreotype photograph of Boulevard du Temple, whereas Q1851236 is about the actual boulevard. They are different entities and so need separate items. One is "instance of = daguerreotype", the other is "instance of = boulevard". Hope this helps explain the decision. Cheers. Delsion23 (talk) 23:35, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Understood. Thanks, Ldorfman (talk) 23:50, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deprecated rank for awards of Ronit Matalon (Q7365722)[edit]

Deprecating is used only if statement is incorrect. If you want to highlight other award then give them a preffered rank, don't deprecate the others. I did that now and it works - template in hewiki and frwiki show only preffered rank awards. DGtal (talk) 07:35, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DGtal, All I wanted to do is to change the order of the lines in the prices section, so that the more-prestigious ones (Emet and Brener) would appear before the two other. I did not find another way to do it. Thank you for teaching me the right way.
Bye and have a nice weekend, Ldorfman (talk) 09:28, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merging items[edit]

Hallo Ldorfman,
When you merge items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It helps with merging, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable in most cases) and removes the need to file a request on Wikidata:Requests for deletions.
With regards,- cycŋ - (talkcontribslogs) 10:52, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip, Cycn. Apparently, I had it checked already in my Preferences. I will try to remember using it the next time it's relevant. Bye, Ldorfman (talk) 23:09, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

--Joalbertine (talk) 10:39, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

אוקי, אז אנא מצא הגדרה מעט קצרה יותר מ"חג יהודי, תחילת עשרת ימי תשובה ושנה עברית חדשה". Ldorfman (talk) 12:54, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User disabled from making interwiki links in Wikidata[edit]

Dear Liron - our mutual friend Tamar has a serious defect in her account here! We've checked it thoroughly together (via Zoom) but I've made no progress towards a remedy. It's described on her User talk page: Click here. Perhaps you can help us solve the problem. Cheers! -- Deborahjay (talk) 19:22, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • P.S. - this isn't about the first User talk page section (re: the duplicate item for Dalia Manor). We're holding off on that as a task for our next coaching session. Thanks! -- Deborahjay (talk) 19:26, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deborahjay.
I honestly have no idea why the display in Tamar's computer is different than the one the rest of you see. What I suggest is something you may have done already - compare the options checked in the preferences. Even if you do not find any difference, there are plenty of things that can be done in Wikidata through the Wikipedia article - look for the pencil sign next to details that can be changed. Clicking on it would open the relevant Wikidata item in the right place and you may go on from there. Call me if you have any questions about it. Good luck! 13:11, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
