English: Presumed portrait of Françoise-Marguerite de Sévigné (1646-1705), daughter of Madame de Sévigné (1626-1696)
Italiano: "N. 12 della lista di quadri inviati da Parigi da Francesco Favi nel 1793 (ASG, filza XXVI a 28). Entrato agli Uffizi il 4 dicembre 1793, come Pierre Mignard. Expertise generale di Favi del 22 gennaio 1793 e perizie di Vien (6 agosto 1792), Robert e Langrenée (2 agosto), Taillasson e Pasquer (30 agosto), Bachelier (8 agosto) e Roslin (12 novembre). Pagato, si crede, 240 livres insieme al pendant del dipinto raffigurante "Ritratto fino al ginocchio di donna vestita da amazzone". L'identità del modello, detto "contessa di Grignan" (Lanzi invece parlava di una Flora), è ancora meno certa di quella del presunto autore, Pierre Mignard. Il Lanzi, all'arrivo dell'opera a Firenze, ne scrisse: "Oltre all'essere ben disegnato ha un impasto di colore di tanta morbidezza che il Cignani non ne ha avuto altra maggiore". Il dipinto non è privo di fascino, ed è quasi sicuro che ritroverà la sua paternità quando gli studi quando gli studi sul ritratto francese del Seicento saranno progrediti, e soprattutto quando sarà meglio conosciuta l'opera di Mignard, pur tanto ammirato ai suoi tempi" Catalogo dei beni culturali
