Description
Nederlands: Centraal op het Mariaplein staat een pomp uit 1865, gegoten door ijzergieterij Giesbers en Van Deun. Stilistisch vertoont de waterpomp invloeden van de Neo-Renaissance. Na een renovatie in de jaren negentig van de twintigste eeuw werd het binnenwerk van de waterpomp verwijderd. Indertijd betrok ze haar water van een nabijgelegen, ruim zes meter diepe welwaterput. Het oorspronkelijk zo waterrijke Mariaplein staat in de volksmond nog steeds bekend als 'De Pool' (waterkuil, waterplas).
