In the centre, a gentlemanis seated on a chair, turning around and looking tenderly at a ladywho is leaning coquettishly over the back of the chair. To theirright, a lady is toying with a dog. On the left, near a cluster of trees,is a group of nine figures : a lady playing with a child; a gentlemanplaying on the guitar; a lady holding a book for him; two lovingcouples in sweet conversation; a little girl plucking flowers. In themiddle distance, on the right, a marble statue; farther back, achapel. Canvas, 27 1/4 in. by 39 in. — 90 —

Brown eyes; curly, auburn hair, powdered in front. Lowdress; neck bare; a red cloak trimmed with brown, black-spottedfur. Sky background. Canvas, 23 3/4 in. by 18 1/4 in. ® SAUVAGE (M.)(i744-i8i8) 79. — Autumn (Decorative Panel) In the centre of the panel is seen a medallion imitating a bas-relief in white marble, suspended from a ribbon bow and placedwithin a gilt frame of the style of Louis XVI, and surrounded by agarland of flowers. It represents five Cupids gathering fruit. Below the medallion, a small panel, imitating a bas-relief in greymarble, is supported by a gold ornament. Canvas, 69 1/2 in. by 44 1/4 in.
