Summary

Description
English: I used the name for as group of panels, with at least one containing a satyr. Another, the best one, has a name of its own as "The boat of the Psyches".

This is Lycurgus entangled in the vine. From Harbiye, 4th century AD. Bearded and naked, Lycurgus is exhausted after struggling with vines. Its tendrils are used as a decorative filling.

Lycurgus and the vine figure in several versions of a myth. I decided, seeing similarity with a mosaic from Delos, the following probably is right: "King Lycurgus of Thrace killing Ambrosia, which is changed into a grapevine. Greek mosaic from Delos, end of 2nd century BC, 69 x 73 cm. Archaeological Museum of Delos. For a detailed study of this mosaic (in French), see Claude Vatin & Philippe Bruneau, “Lycurgue et Ambrosia sur une nouvelle mosaïque de Délos”, in Bulletin de correspondance hellénique, 1966, vol. 90, #90-2, p. 391-427."
