Comment Inverse properties are not essential to Wikidata, and introduce consistency issues that can cause trouble; best to avoid if possible. I know we have a bunch of inverses already, but I don't think it's wise to add new ones at this point. ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:11, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- It is not intended for the mere purpose of being a reverse. Split-offs are relevant relations in itself I think and I kinda expect them to be present directly on the item. Furthermore, followed by (P156) and replaced by (P1366) are regularly used instead, but they don't describe the relation very well, the former being too vague and the latter just plain wrong. Plus it gives awkard, asymmetrical relations. --Strepulah (talk) 13:47, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Comment Resource Description and Access (Q1519318) has reciprocal properties for these relationships: has product of split: "Relates a corporate body to a corporate body who resulted from a split or division of another corporate body." and has predecessor of split: "Relates a corporate body to a corporate body who split or divided into another corporate body." So inverse properties are not ideal. Neither do links that only go one way I think, but something will be worked out in the future I assume. Until then the relateditems plugin will suffice. --Strepulah (talk) 15:38, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
