Motivation[edit]

For film databases (TMDb, MUBI, omdb, Cinemagia,...) it is usual to store the corresponding numerical UUID within a Wikidata-property. So far, the trakt.tv (Q84591894) database has been an exception here: The property Trakt.tv ID (P8013) requires 'movie/name' to be given. This means that there is a single property that catches up all the IDs for films, series, persons, etc. instead of using the UUIDs. There's a movie-id 15 for Metropolis, show-id 15 for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and people-id 15 for Emilio Estevez. So, there are unique IDs on Trakt (not only) for every movie and this property would refer to the unique ID. I therefore recommend removing the validity of Trakt.tv ID (P8013) for movies in future and instead using the UUID within this property. The movie-id can be found in the source code of each movie on Trakt.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paspal (talk • contribs) at 10:52, 4 February 2024‎ (UTC).[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  •  Support, an important property for cinematography.--Arbnos (talk) 18:27, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support. Thus, I think it's better to divide the properties by types, so I support the request. However, all the records of the current Trakt property should be modified; is there any way to do this via bot? I ask as I'm not familiar with bots. --Wiccio (talk) 22:31, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not familiar with the bots that are used on Wikidata.
What I can say, however, is that the assignment could be done automated hundreds of thousands of times: A movie can be loaded via the URL https://trakt.tv/search/tmdb/$1/?id_type=movie using the TMDB ID, which is assigned to each movie on Trakt and to most of the movies on Wikidata. If the movie is loaded on the Trakt page, the corresponding Trakt movie ID can be retrieved in the source code on Trakt.
Theoretically, this is clearly possible. I am not familiar with the practice here, I would be interested to know.
