Reinheitsgebot doing the same thing again[edit]

We're having the same problems again with Reinheitsgebot adding University of Barcelona IDs for works to data items for humans. [1] [2] The claim that the problem was fixed clearly was not true. My notifications to the bot owner have gone without response. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:05, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh. (Not sure what you mean by "the claim that the problem was fixed", because I didn't even see that.) I've followed up in the thread, but I can't say I have much hope anything will change. —Scs (talk) 01:41, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also [3]. So he's aware of it... —Scs (talk) 11:25, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Knot theory properties[edit]

Hi! Thank you for your contribution to the proposal for Dowker-Thistlethwaite notation (P8378). I've nearly completed the process of merging together and cross-checking the existing knot entries and the new ones, and my next planned step is to add the Dowker-Thistlethwaite names: see Wikidata:Property_proposal/Natural_science#Dowker-Thistlethwaite_name. Once that is done, I'll be able to make a start on adding the external identifiers to link the Wikidata items to the various external resources (see the other related proposals on the same page). Once that's done, I can then go on to complete my knot project without needing any more new properties.

Could you possibly take a look at the proposal above, and the related external entity property proposals listed together with it? Thanks, The Anome (talk) 14:16, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for looking at the proposal for this property, which has now been created. Could you possibly also take a look at my other knot theory property proposals at Wikidata:Property_proposal/Natural_science#Mathematics? Once these are created, I should be able to finish the process of putting this framework in place. -- The Anome (talk) 14:36, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

Hi Scs, thanks for your email and your concerns. I wrote and maintain Module:WikidataIB, which I forked from the en:Module:Wikidata that I created back in 2013. The English Wikipedia community restricted the use of Wikidata to infoboxes and I wanted a module specifically to address the issues raised on enwiki such as "opt-in vs opt-out" and filtering out of unsourced data. It consists of numerous low-level calls that allow an infobox designer to upgrade each field in an existing infobox template so that it becomes capable of drawing the information for that field from Wikidata under the control of an editor at the article level.

I am indeed retired from work, not from Wikipedia. I have, however, taken the decision to dissociate myself from the Wikidata project as I believe the community has too little conception of how Wikidata is being used other than by means of a SPARQL query, and the data structures are far too vulnerable to individuals meddling without any consideration of the consequences of their actions. That sort of behaviour would be quickly stamped on at enwiki, but seems to be tolerated through ignorance here. --RexxS (talk) 14:38, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors[edit]

Dear Scs,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at the King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized (?) to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me on kholoudsaa@gmail.com or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me using the email mentioned above if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Kholoud

Scholares[edit]

Hi Scs,

I've undone your merge of scholar (Q2248623): The German de:Scholar means medieval student or cleric and not academic in a modern sense.--Jackie Bensberg (talk) 16:16, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
