Self-referencing value[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that on several items you put a self-referencing value « QXXX follows (P155) the same QXXX ». Is it on purpose? (it doesn't seems so - usually it's a mistake -, I start reverting it when I noticed you did it on several items).

See

SELECT ?q ?qLabel WHERE {
  ?q wdt:P155 ?q.
  SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "[AUTO_LANGUAGE],en". }
}
Try it!

(not all yours)

Vincent van Gogh's occupation[edit]

Your recent QS batch #4411 added "author" to Vincent van Gogh (Q5582)'s occupation. This is incorrect. Your QS note says that the addition was based on data.kunsten.be. Looking at http://data.kunsten.be/people/vincent-van-gogh I don't see how you came to conclusion that Vincent van Gogh's occupation was "author". Did your import somehow confuse subject with author? —RP88 (talk) 00:27, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi RP88, First of all it clearly states it on several items, this being just one: http://data.kunsten.be/productions/vincent-van-gogh-correspondentie-van-vincent-van-gogh. Secondly Van Gogh clearly wrote hundreds of letters and kept a diary. Both are published. - Hence, he can and should also be credited as author. Thank you. - there's even a Wikipedia article; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Letters_of_Vincent_van_Gogh
    I think you misunderstood my point, this isn't about "crediting him as an author". I am, of course, aware of the letters written by Vincent van Gogh (mostly exchanged with his brother) and their posthumous publication. I didn't say Vincent van Gogh wasn't an author, I said it wasn't his occupation. For example, I myself have several published writings, so I suppose you could call me an author, but I would never claim my occupation as that of an author. Similarly, you could find my name listed as a driver at a professional auto racing event, but I'd definitely never describe my occupation as "racing driver". Is the issue that I have perhaps misunderstood how Wikidata uses the "occupation" property? Has Wikidata adopted a nomenclature where the "occupation" property is actually more like a list of "any human activity" performed by the subject, rather than a more conventional definition of "occupation"? —RP88 (talk) 10:58, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    If you look at the property description it clearly states in multiple languages (for example german, dutch and french) that the property is also used for hobby, Tatïgkeit, activiteit (bezigheid in dutch), etc etc. If we would now for example follow your opinion then I would argue that it makes no sense whatsoever to claim that for example Anne Frank had the occupation "diarist", not to mention that there is no such "occupation" and she never was aware of the fact that these would be published, let alone was employed to do so.

Hello Oliviervd, thank you for your items about ballet/operativ productions! I just noticed that you use subject has role (P2868) to indicate the specific role of a cast member in the context of cast member (P161) statements. subject has role (P2868) should be used to indicate the role of the subject of the statement (in the form <subject><predicate><object>). In a statement like Q57508244 cast member (P161): Reinhilde Decleir (Q2125919)/subject has role (P2868):actor (Q33999) this would mean that Q57508244 has the role of a actor (Q33999). This does not make much sense. object has role (P3831) is the qualifier to use here, as you want to indicate that Reinhilde Decleir (Q2125919) works as a actor (Q33999) and Reinhilde Decleir (Q2125919) is the object (value) of the statement. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 08:41, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • is there a way to redirect this in Batch? Otherwise i'll undo the batch and reupload them in a correct manner. Thanks for the advise. It can get complicated sometimes..
It is possible via pywikibot. I already wrote a script for a similar task and would take care of this (I already started to redirect them ([1]/[2]). - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 10:44, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Strange nationality[edit]

Hi,

This edit Special:Diff/631489465 is strange, Antillia (Q576922) is a phantom island that never existed, it's unlikely to be a correct value for country of citizenship (P27). Could you take a look?

Overzicht[edit]

Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/King Baudouin Foundation. Kleur jij het verder in? Multichill (talk) 20:39, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Multichill, jazeker! – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oliviervd (talk • contribs) at 21:52, 3 December 2018‎ (UTC).[reply]
Mooi.

Hierdoor vermijden we dergelijke problemen.

copyright statements[edit]

Please do not add copyright status (P6216) statements claiming Public Domain, without applies to jurisdiction (P1001) and determination method (P459) qualifiers, explaining how you determined that. --Jarekt (talk) 21:22, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I saw you declared Marie-Louise Dupont (Q59419456) (which I created) as owner of Collection of bas-reliefs belonging to Marie-Louise Dupont (Q59945273). However, this could not be the case as Marie-Louise Dupont (Q59419456) was created after Marie-Louise Dupont, spouse of Joseph-Marie Toullec (1826-1891). Could you create an another item, please ? Thanks, Hopala! (talk) 15:49, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Q52225598[edit]

Hi,

Deconinck (Q52225598) is in Wikidata:Requests for deletions for months now, can you maybe provide some more information to make it clearer.

PS: the link on Q41793439#P856 doesn't work anymore.

Q55336220 - Dutch label is White Suprematism? How did that happen?[edit]

Hi Olivier, curious how your OpenRefine batch set might have caused this Dutch label to be applied against "tentoonstelling" which actually means "exhibition". Perhaps some data error or incorrect column in OpenRefine was applied on this batch load? Regardless, I wanted to let you know so you might want to go back and check on that batch data load https://tools.wmflabs.org/quickstatements/#mode.3Dbatch.26batch.3D3008 - Thanks! Art Exhibition Q55352388[edit]

Hi, you generated Q55352388 but gave no name. If it was an art exhibition, it should have a name. Or at least some link to a description. Di you have any information about it? -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 12:08, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Gerd Fahrenhorst: it has a label: "In between, das Kunstprojekt der Expo 2000 - Lily van der Stokker, Marijke van Warmerdam, Gabriel Orozco, Albert Oehlen, Roman Signer…" (in Dutch). You probably have to click the "all entered languages" ("Alle eingegebenen Sprachen") link to see it. Multichill (talk) 12:13, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I copied most of it to the German and English description. -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 12:30, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Organization ID on the item[edit]

Hi, I noticed that the item Brotfabrik Bonn (Q990767) and Brotfabrik (Q990769) do have the same Flanders Arts Institute organisation ID (P5164). Is there a possiblity to check which ID is assigned to which organization? (Boxomi (talk) 12:22, 10 December 2019 (UTC))[reply]

New OpenRefine reconciliation service[edit]

Hi!

Thank you for wearing the {{User loves OpenRefine}} userbox on your user page!

Because the existing Wikidata reconciliation service has had severe performance issues recently, I have created a new one which should be faster and more robust. You can add it to OpenRefine in the reconciliation dialog with the following URL: https://wikidata.reconci.link/en/api (or by replacing en by any other language code).

If you have any issues with this new service, let me know.

Happy reconciling! − Pintoch (talk)
