Small typo

Happy new year!

I am currently improving Gilles Eckard (Q50990878) and there is a typo. Instead of an der l'Université de Neuchâtel you should put an der Université de Neuchâtel or, actually, an der Universität Neuenburg. For some reason there are dozens of items of literature professors of the University of Neuchâtel probably done by the same operator where the French name is used in the German description.I did not care too much, but that's the first one where a double article is used.

Also if you open the interface, maybe you want to update that he died (see IDREF and other external source). Bye! Alessandro Marchetti (WMCH) (talk) 13:19, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I've updated the GND (created by DE-5 = ULB Bonn) and corrected the drag&drop description. --Kolja21 (talk) 13:49, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Typo or rendering

Creating Anaele Simon (Q124089271) I have noticed that the GND entry shows "e͏̈" as separated "e" and ":". Is it rendering or can it be fixed? In any case, you might find some additional information in the IDs of the items if you want to update something (not a lot of it). Alessandro Marchetti (WMCH) (talk) 19:53, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

It's a known problem with the current DNB catalog. The new version (Betaversion) will display the name correctly. --Kolja21 (talk) 22:00, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Dariusz Nowak

I am truly disappointed that you a priori assume that I don't know what I'm doing and first you revert my first and then write that I should check it. If my edit is wrong, correct it. If you don't know if it is wrong or correct, why do you edit it? Niegodzisie (talk) 17:18, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi Niegodzisie, I did not want to annoy you. The ID you've added was already registered for another item. Since you speak Polish I've pinged you so you might have a look at the possible conflation:
User:Matlin, who created the items, is blocked. --Kolja21 (talk) 17:24, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Gigi Riva

One of the most known Italian footballers, Gigi Riva (Q276026), died a few days ago; listening to a press review (while editing Wikidata) I heard that a less known homonym journalist, Gigi Riva (Q3764106), has struggled throughout his life with this homonymity (see his amusing article: https://www.editorialedomani.it/idee/cultura/lonore-di-essere-il-falso-gigi-riva-diario-di-una-omonimia-t6ey0vtj). The footballer wrote only the 3 things you find connected to him in SBN, whilst the journalist wrote many books, also about Jugoslavia; confusion is unfortunately widespread among many national libraries; since GND doesn't have the journalist, maybe it's better to prevent further confusion ;-) Thanks! --Epìdosis 17:17, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done With pleasure. --Kolja21 (talk) 18:16, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Latvia

Hello Kolja21,

currently Q211#P227 says 4074187-4 (VIAF 125422131). But I think it's wrong. The correct viaf should be 237710820 - P227 122139-5. It's might be about Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic (Q192180). Geagea (talk) 12:52, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi Geagea, this is a very good question. Looks like a duplicate. GND 4074187-4 (former SWD) is correct: 1) The form of naming, see "Land: Lettland (XA-LV)" and 2) Linking (Verwandter Begriff: Letten). Imho GND 122139-5 "Latvija (1918-1940; 21.08.1991- )" can be merged. This is an ID of the former GKD that has been overlooked. @Wurgl: You're the expert for geographical place names. What do you think? --Kolja21 (talk) 22:16, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
It seems that 122139-5 should be used from 1918 … 1940 and after 1991. The time between is addressed by 1009154-3 (=Q192180) and 4074187-4 seems to be some kind of duplicate from 1918 (or even before) till today.
As Kolja21 mentioned: The Deutsche Nationalbibliothek had various different catalogs, one was SWD (see: en:Schlagwortnormdatei), one was GKD (see: en:Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei) and in 2012 they merged them, but are still working on processing those duplicates. --Wurgl (talk) 22:34, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks very much for the detailed information. And thanks for the corrections you have made. Geagea (talk) 00:32, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Chowanetz

I tend to think Joseph Chowanetz (Q94983337) and Joseph Chowanetz (Q94904399) are the same person, but I'm not fully sure; could you check and merge them if needed? Thanks! --Epìdosis 14:49, 2 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done Merged. "Julian Chownitz" is a pseudonym. --Kolja21 (talk) 19:42, 2 February 2024 (UTC)

Carlo Mauri

Carlo Mauri (Q112606203) seems still alive, or surely his death didn't happen in 1982; the birthplace can be made more precise (my SBN authority record will be visible next week). Thanks! --Epìdosis 19:35, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

I have finished fixing all Carlo Mauri in SBN; Carlo Mauri (Q61477664) is surely identifiable with the translator Q112603563 you created; all my edits in SBN (including the new attributions of bibliographic records) will be visible on 29 or 30 January. For problematic cases of Italian homonyms like these of course you can always ask me and I will be happy to dive into the (frequent) confusion of SBN and try to clean it :) --Epìdosis 19:53, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the note. I've deleted the year of death for the photographer and created a GND for Carlo Mauri (Q370270): Italian mountaineer and explorer (1930-1982). When your edits in SBN/ICCU are visible I'll check again and fix the rest. --Kolja21 (talk) 22:47, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
✓ Done All GNDs checked. --Kolja21 (talk) 21:03, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Wrong place of birth

Hi, this person is related to me, and I can assure that she was not born in Pisa. I could tell you the right information, but it's probably personal. You could replace it with a more generic "province of Pisa" or remove it, but I wouldn't keep it as it is, it's misleading. Alexmar983 (talk) 05:05, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

It's official (GND 103546988X): "... vorgelegt von M.Sc. Ilaria Marchetti aus Pisa, Italien" but I can change "Geburtsort" (place of birth) to "Wirkungsort" (place of residence / place of action). BTW: There is an other person with that name: GND 1051846226. --Kolja21 (talk) 05:27, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
She was working in Germany and not in Pisa, she was originally active at the local University in Pisa or the CNR (research center) before moving to Germany; her original residence was not Pisa in any case. It's also possible that she did not understand the information required in some form, if so she probably meant Pisa as an area (that is, the province of Pisa) --Alexmar983 (talk) 08:34, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
Well in this case I can't help. In the authority control we only use published information. Officially she was born (or grew up) in Pisa even if this information is wrong. --Kolja21 (talk) 08:46, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Antonino Gennaro

In https://d-nb.info/gnd/1264818467 the death year should be 1962 instead of 1952 (cf. Antonino Gennaro (Q55228088)). Thanks! --Epìdosis 14:55, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done Thanks. Typo fixed. --Kolja21 (talk) 15:59, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

List of users with editing access to databases for national authority control

Hi, FYI I would like to create a dedicated page here on Wikidata that lists all Wikidata users with access to certain databases for authority control. Starting with those in the VIAF ecosystem, I plan to include also link to procedures in some older local Wikipedia pages, the on-line forms or emails for database where reporting is only possible through their online system or point out cases where leaving a notification is currently not possible at all.

I recently realized that I know these things, but it's time-consuming to inform many users separately. I'd prefer a simple unified link to share. It would be reguarly updated.

I have obtained permission from User:Epìdosis to include his name. Would you be comfortable with me including your name for the GND? I can provide you with the sandbox link of the table for your reference. I won't initiate this before the end of February in any case. Alexmar983 (talk) 23:50, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Good idea. You can include my name for the GND. Grazie per le informazioni. --Kolja21 (talk) 23:57, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. Noted.--Alexmar983 (talk) 03:16, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi, update. The page is ready, see Wikidata:WikiProject Authority control/Error reporting procedures. Regards.--Alexmar983 (talk) 16:57, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

Glauco Gottardi

If I understand correctly, the GND https://d-nb.info/gnd/171465970 is not about Glauco Gottardi (Q3771911); could you check and, if so, create a GND for this item (cf. e.g. https://d-nb.info/850268893)? Thanks! --Epìdosis 11:11, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done GND 171465970 = Giovanni Gottardi (Q124535503): Swiss civil engineer. Thanks for the hint. LCAuth has an other "G. Gottardi" = Giorgio Gottardi (Q124536178) who worked for the Univ. of Padua. --Kolja21 (talk) 14:41, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
@Epìdosis: I've moved the NSK ID (P1375) 000246627 from
Guido Gottardi is mentioned in the ISSMGE Bulletin: Volume 6, Issue 2, p. 24. --Kolja21 (talk) 19:53, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

Giovanni Grazzini

I'm a bit uncertain about the GND https://d-nb.info/gnd/1157662978 probably of Giovanni Grazzini (Q123926261): Italian philologist (1870-1943), since it's empty and there isn't Beacon anymore to check how it is used; the publications I see inside https://viaf.org/processed/DNB%7C1157662978 seem perfectly coherent with this person. Could you confirm? Thanks! --Epìdosis 14:22, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done I have added the information. You can also use OGND. It is more reliable than VIAF. --Kolja21 (talk) 16:22, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

--Arch2all (talk) Arch2all (talk) 09:22, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

Danke für den Hinweis. --Kolja21 (talk) 16:17, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

Assyriologist

Hi! In https://d-nb.info/gnd/118257789X "Assyriologie" is indicated as "Beruf(e)"; isn't it wrong, since Assyriology is a discipline and not a profession? Thanks! --Epìdosis 11:41, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done It was a workaround since there is no GND for "Assyriologe". Better "Altorientalist" (GND) with the addition "Assyriologe". --Kolja21 (talk) 12:18, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Robert Donceel

Robert Donceel (Q97065285) is Belgian, not Bulgarian (probable mistake in selecting the country): https://d-nb.info/gnd/1161367934. Thanks! --Epìdosis 11:46, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done Thanks for the hint. --Kolja21 (talk) 12:22, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Beacon

Hi! I was trying to use https://beacon.findbuch.de/seealso/pnd-aks?format=sources&id=116274689 (in order to check the homonymy Antonio Aita) but the entire website beacon.findbuch.de seems down; does it happen frequently? is it something serious or is it going to come back soon? Thanks as always, --Epìdosis 14:52, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Epìdosis: I'm afraid the project has been canceled. Completely surprising to me, see de:Wikipedia Diskussion:Normdaten#Beispiel in der Einleitung der Projektseite Normdaten funktioniert nicht. --Kolja21 (talk) 21:23, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
This is a very sad news, since the time you suggested me this website I used it a significant number of times to check how GND authority records were used among libraries and if there were any wrong uses. I hope it will be restored some time in the future! --Epìdosis 17:21, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
I'm facing the same problem. @Emu: Do you know an easy to use alternative? Deutsche Biographie - Open Beacon has no focus on libraries catalogues and is too complicated for me. --Kolja21 (talk) 18:06, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
@Kolja21 No, sorry – I’m facing the same problem. --Emu (talk) 18:40, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
@Epìdosis: There is a new service from the LMU Munich called Prometheus. Example: Voltaire, GND 118627813. --Kolja21 (talk) 14:46, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
This is a great news!!! I added it here, https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Property%3AP227&diff=2087029605&oldid=2087028898. Thanks, --Epìdosis 17:17, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Sibylle Pieyre de Mandiargues

Sibylle Pieyre de Mandiargues (Q124662578): French screenwriter (1967-) = https://d-nb.info/gnd/138285292 says 1970 as birth year but LOC has no birth date and I'm unsure of what "BN-Opale" is exactly; other sources converge on 1967. Thanks, --Epìdosis 11:40, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

✓ Done BN-Opale is the predecessor of BnF, see Liste der fachlichen Nachschlagewerke für die Gemeinsame Normdatei. I don't know how or whether you can view the old data so I've changed the source to BnF. As always, thanks for the tip! --Kolja21 (talk) 14:01, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

--Kolja21 (talk) 15:16, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello Kolja21,

this 2-id's are for the same person - Israeli archaeologist specializing in China. Geagea (talk) 13:21, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the hint. I've filed a report, see de:Wikipedia:GND/Fehlermeldung/Februar 2024. --Kolja21 (talk) 14:26, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Siegfried Hammer

https://ixtheo.de/search/results?lookfor=1197999396 this is a clear misuse of GND 1197999396: this work is by Siegfried Hammer (Q124692118): German priest (1934-1994) which seems not to have a GND. Thanks! --Epìdosis 23:10, 28 February 2024 (UTC) FYI @Bargioni: first good effects of working on Parsifal ;-)

The German priest has now GND 1322008159. His dissertation will be linked. --Kolja21 (talk) 00:27, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Q94743853

Hello Kolja21,

Can you look at Q94743853. seems to be the same person. Geagea (talk) 15:27, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the merge. I've filed a report. --Kolja21 (talk) 15:39, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

I have created Michael Bischoff (Q124737418) and added the GND because publications were the same (for example "Alchemie - Magie oder Naturwissenschaft?") but the birth date not the same (1970 -->1949). And see also Michael Bischoff (Q95877210) same GND and Michael Bischoff (Q93506989) that the birth date fits but not publications and also he is translator. In your opinion where is the mistake GND or J9U and LCCN. Geagea (talk) 17:43, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

LCAuth n2007051793 mixes two persons, see Q95877210#P244:
  • Bischoff, Michael. Geschichtsbilder zwischen Fakt und Fabel, 2006:t.p. (Michael Bischoff) = Michael Bischoff (Q95877210): German art historian (1970- )
  • Augé, Marc. Orte und Nicht-Orte, 1994:title page (translated from the French by Michael Bischoff) = Michael Bischoff (Q93506989): German translator (1949- )
Both have an article in the German-language Wikipedia. --Kolja21 (talk) 20:19, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
J9U 002104333 (Geschichtsbilder zwischen Fakt und Fabel, 2006) = de:Michael Bischoff (Kunsthistoriker). --Kolja21 (talk) 20:29, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you very much. will ask to change the birth date in J9U. Geagea (talk) 23:22, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Antonio Locatelli

https://d-nb.info/gnd/1072836688 who is he? I cannot find uses through Prometheus. Thanks! --Epìdosis 14:03, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi, Antonio Locatelli (OGND), created for:
Created by DE-32 = Duchess Anna Amalia Library (Q50711). Later added by another library:

GND 1113561742: Antonio Locatelli (18th/19th century), engraver and art historian. I still have to check that ... --Kolja21 (talk) 16:55, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
GND 1113561742 = AKL 00114776: Locatelli, Antonio (1800):

Thanks! All the above are the same person, i.e. Antonio Locatelli (Q98456889): Italian engraver (1786-1848). --Epìdosis 20:32, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
@Epìdosis: That would be nice but to easy ;) Trattato del disegno e della pittura in miniatura (1768) was published before Antonio Locatelli (1786-1848) was born. Is there a publisher of this name (Venezia: Locatelli, 1768)? --Kolja21 (talk) 21:20, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
You are right, surely a different person; a printer active in Venice in the 18th century: I created Antonio Locatelli (Q124756364): Italian publisher (18th century). I don't have infos besides the published books themselves. Epìdosis 22:33, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

Gertrud Wertheim

Hallo, könntest du dir die Gertrud Wertheims anschauen? Gertrud Wertheim (Q95751879) = 134698320. Danke! --Emu (talk) 22:48, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Hallo Emu, Frage 1 ist leicht zu beantworten. "Concerto für Cembalo ... / hrsg. von Gertrud Wertheim" = Gertrud Wertheim (Q95751879): no description. --Kolja21 (talk) 07:08, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
