Lohse had been handed over to the French and spent two years in a Paris jail. Following a brief trial in 1950, he managed to return to Germany, where he was first confined to the French zone in Baden-Württemberg and then settled in Munich. Because Lohse did not go through denazification, he was not licensed to work as an art dealer; he therefore described himself as an art “adviser.” (English)

Lohse's principal connections in the Paris art market were the following: 1) Allen Loebl: Jewish director of the Galerie GARIN formerly KLEINBERGER). LOHSE stated that he had met LOEBL through Wilhelm Jakob MOHNEN (see O.S.S/A.L.I.U "Interim Report on German Looting of Works of Art in France", dated 15 April 1945), shortly after he had arrived in Paris; and that he had made an agreement with LOEBL, protecting him against anti-Jewish action, in return for which LOHSE received first option for GOERING on any works of art passing through LOEBL's hands. In addition, he secured the release of LOEBL's broghterm, Manon, from the concentration camp at Drancy on two occasions (English)

Intimate contactws with von Behr and Lohse. Acted as expert for ERR on French 19th century painting. Appointed art adviser to the German Embassy on 16 July 1942, with the rank of Consul. Involved in two exchanges with the ERR. With Rochlitz, probably the leading intermediary for German official buyers in the Paris art market. (English)

Wealthy French industrialist and speculator, who acted as Wendland’s French agent after the Swiss made it impossible for him to leave that country. Chief financial figure in the Wendland, Lohse, Perdoux art dealing syndicate. Worked with Lohse and Hofer, and was a good friend of von Behr. (English)

"Voleur en chef" du maréchal du IIIe Reich, Hermann Göring, qui avait une confiance absolue en ses goûts et connaissances, Lohse eut en effet pour mission pendant la seconde guerre mondiale d'enrichir le patrimoine artistique du bras droit d'Hitler en dépeçant, en particulier en France où la Galerie du Jeu de paume était son repère, les collections privées de familles juives.
