mainsnak date

[edit]

What is a "mainsnak date"? This is in the English description, but "mainsnak" isn't an English word. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:10, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The mainsnak is essentially the main part of the statement (the main property value pair). 'mainsnak' should probably not be translated into other languages. ·addshore· talk to me! 10:46, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

year 0

[edit]

You may want to exclude dates with year 0 as it is being used to specify "unknown year" dates, and is frequently used for people for which day/month of birth is known but the year is not. See e.g. Himawari Ezuki (Q11492393). --Smalyshev (WMF) (talk) 01:15, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Those should be fixed anyway, as this is very misleading. Converting to birthday (P3150) is the best option. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 08:19, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Placement of this item is finished

[edit]

As explained in the Phabricator task referenced at the top of this page, the item was used in conjunction with a one-time pass of a bot. The placement phase is over and we are now in the phase of resolving the suspected errors indicated by this item. Jc3s5h (talk) 15:40, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

[edit]

Can someone explain me what should I do when I come across a qualifier assertion instance of (P31)statement with Gregorian date earlier than 1584 (Q26961029)? --Horcrux (talk) 16:18, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I forgot to provide an example. --Horcrux (talk) 09:38, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lydia Pintscher (WMDE), Addshore: --Horcrux (talk) 07:41, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Horcrux: In a nutshell, that the Gregorian calendar did not exist before that year, and so none of these dates really can make any sense.
The thinking back when these statements were added was that the community could then use the links and slowly figure out what the state was and should be?
They possibly all just need converting to Julian calendar? But that probably also depends on the source etc, and this probably all needs to be looked at on a case by case basis.
