Not sure if I agree with these instructions. Inventory numbers assigned to artworks by cultural institutions are not universal. They depend on the collection the artwork is a part of and are only valid from the moment the institution has assigned them (after acquiring the work at some point in time). I find it most correct to add inventory numbers as qualifiers of collection (P195), not the other way around. I do understand it's much more practical to have them as separate 'full' properties for querying, sorting and such, but I definitely don't find it more correct.
