Wikidata:WikiCite/Wikidata lists/Items about Zika virus or fever
The amount of information available on Wikidata about the Zika virus has outgrown this page, albeit the feed of recent changes related to it remains useful.
For more detailed coverage, see the dynamic version of this list, the Scholia profile for the Zika virus or the Histropedia timeline for Zika virus or check out the resources under WikiProject Zika Corpus.
This page collects Wikidata items for which main subject (P921) is set to Zika virus (Q202864) and/ or Zika fever (Q8071861) and/ or Zika virus infection (Q27043680) and/or congenital Zika virus infection (Q27108236) and/or Zika virus transmission (Q27267596). The list is auto-updated about once a day if any items meeting these criteria have changed in any of the properties displayed in the table. This way, you can follow this page and be notified of changes in the corresponding items (e.g. a paper that came out only yesterday) even if you do not have them on your watchlist. For information about the Zika virus and the current outbreak more generally, see Wikidata:WikiProject Medicine/Zika.
The purpose of this page is to have a human-readable overview of sources about Zika virus (Q202864) and/ or Zika fever (Q8071861), which could be used as references to support statements around this topic. The table lists the scholarly articles with a bare minimum of metadata — currently label (mostly equivalent to the original title, except when that is too long or in another language), publication date, author (in cases where the author's Wikidata item is linked) or author string (in cases where Wikidata only lists the string of characters used to represent the author on the original publication, rather than linking to a Wikidata item), plus the journal the article was published in. Other metadata fields (e.g. DOI, license) were originally included in the table but have since been removed because the table has grown considerably over time, and Wikidata lists like this one are technically limited in terms of their size.
Some of the things one can do with this table:
- pick any of the article items
- check whether it has all the relevant information (for an example item, see Biodiversity assessment of the fishes of Saba Bank atoll, Netherlands Antilles (Q15625490))
- check whether the bibliographic metadata displays properly using Module:Cite (which may eventually help in handling source metadata on other Wikimedia projects, but this will require better workflows than we have now, and your checks can help move us in this direction)
- example: {{#invoke:Cite|reflist|Q22240545}} produces
- Alexander John Haddow, George Dick and Stuart Fordyce Kitchen, "Zika virus. I. Isolations and serological specificity", Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, vol. 46, 5, , doi: 10.1016/0035-9203(52)90042-4, PubMed ID: 12995440
- if not:
- check whether the item shows up in any of the constraint violation pages for properties listed in Template:Bibliographical properties and try to fix any problems or notify others of what you saw
- the problem may actually be due to the module, which is not fully functional yet (e.g. at the time of writing, the order of the authors in the example is not correct) — if you know Lua, you could try to see what to do about that
- example: {{#invoke:Cite|reflist|Q22240545}} produces
- BONUS: read the abstract of the paper described in the item and try to turn that into statements about the main topics of the paper (other than Zika virus/ Zika fever, at least one of which should be set already), by way of main subject (P921)
- EXTRA BONUS: read (more of) the paper described in the item and try to translate some of that information into Wikidata statements, for which the item could be listed as a source via stated in (P248)
- check whether a Wikidata item exists for any of the authors currently only listed via author name string (P2093), and turn the author name string (P2093) statement into a author (P50) statement
- Wikidata Game number 9 does this on a more general level, not limited to items listed in the table on this page
- check the item about the author and see whether you can add, reference or otherwise improve any statements there (for an example item, see Jonathan A. Eisen (Q2000017))
- if there is no item about the author, consider whether there should be one, and whether you might want to get it started (example)
- if no journal is listed for a given article item, check whether a relevant Wikidata item exists and how it could be improved
- if there is no item about the journal, consider whether there should be one, and whether you might want to get it started
- pick any of the queries listed here or on the talk page and see whether you can do anything with the results:
- most cited Zika papers
- the respective authors (particularly those without an ORCID statement), co-authors, institutions or journals
- papers with "Zika" in the label but without a P921 for Zika virus or Zika fever.
- see also the corresponding timeline
- most cited Zika papers
This list is periodically updated by a bot. Manual changes to the list will be removed on the next update!
