Motivation[edit]

Sport climbing makes its debut in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This property will provide links to biographical information and photographs of members of Team USA. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 21:42, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  • @UWashPrincipalCataloger: Could it be that the site has been rebuilt? At least the links don't work for me at the moment. Therefore, I cannot currently agree to the ownership, even if I actually find it useful. --Gymnicus (talk) 22:30, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • They seem to take you to a collective page where the biographies are located. For example, for Nathaniel Coleman, even though the URL browser address says https://usaclimbing.org/team-usa/#member-bio-5270, the page seems to be for the entire 2021 Bouldering National Team. The identifier is correct, but maybe it should not have a formatter URL, since the link doesn't specifically go to an individual athlete's page? When you click on the individual person's picture/name, a pop-up window comes up with additional biographical information. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 22:41, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@UWashPrincipalCataloger: Sorry that I only now notice your answer. Yes, it is also the case with me that I come to the collection page, which can also be reached via the address usaclimbing.org/team-usa/. Whether an identifier is currently useful depends on whether the identifier can be found at all. Because if I now go to the "simple" address and then call up an image, no ID is displayed to me, which I could then add to the data object. I hope you understand what i mean. So from my current point of view, the identifier makes no sense, even if I actually find it useful. Gymnicus (talk) 17:48, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree, that it's not a good ID and I've withdrawn the proposal.
