Motivation[edit]

The Portable Antiquities Scheme (Q3398729) is a British Museum led initiative which catalogues and photographs small archaeological finds in the United Kingdom. So far they have recorded over a million objects, ranging from pins to gold hoards. Commons has over 600,000 images from the collection, and many categories relating to the topics represented by this ID.

Note: The IDs appear to case-insensitive (see https://finds.org.uk/datalabs/terminology/object/term/CoMMunion+Cup ); it is not yet clear which form is canonical. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:45, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
