Discussion[edit]

  •  Oppose: Strong potential for major privacy violations for living people (WD:BLP). A database that purportedly includes birthdate AND mother's maiden name AND place of birth for every person born in California in the last 120 years basically broadcasting common security questions. It is not at all limited to deceased persons: I just found info for several living people (who likely will never be on Wikidata, at least not until AI takes over and moves us all into digital everlasting life). At least with other public record databases like FamilySearch person ID (P2889), there is a presumption that publicly viewable profiles on that are already deceased, and with WikiTree person ID (P2949) and Geni.com profile ID (P2600) there is an option to hide or remove sensitive information on still living people (and geni.com is almost laughably bad at hosting credible info). This website doesn't appear to have the ability or anyone to "opt out" or have their info removed. Just like Google used to pretend to aspire, Wikidata should not be evil. -Animalparty (talk) 07:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
