wikisource interwiki[edit]
Could you please, resolve with Sergey what is current wikisisource interwiki policy as your bot's and subsequent Sergey's edits lead to destruction of wikisource interwiki. Ankry (talk) 10:57, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- I have no idea why wikisource is going this way. From what I understand Wikidata:Wikisource/Development#Bots implies that interwiki-removal is similar to that of other wikis. On my BRFA for non-global-bot enwikisource there was some opposition, but I do not fully get their point, as the bot edit technically changes nothing at all. It is also mentioned Wikisource conference in November last year, but as I did not follow the conference, I'm unaware of the outcomes. @Sergey kudryavtsev: As you're more wikisource-er than I am, could you elaborate on the current issue and possibly recommend some solutions? - From the WSes point of view, I believe that they still have interlanguage links in place, and there is no change on any global level. From the perspective of how they work at wikidata, there is a book item, then there is edition items; one generally cannot interwiki versions at wikidata as they are not equivalent. There is a phabricator ticket that looks to how we can use various language editions, or the book <-> edition relationship to provide interwikis across sisters, and interlanguage within the sisters, until then we link locally at the WSes is my understanding of the approaches used. Or, alternatively, shall we have a well documented policy against adding editions to the original text item (Wikidata:WikiProject Books is not really clear-cut), so wikidata interwikis are mostly consistent with policy, and interwiki removing would work as usual?

- Phabricator:T128710 is the ticket. Re interlanguage links, the issue at Wikisource is not so simple, and is not a yes/no answer to what is a the appropriate interlanguage link, especially with broader use of namespaces, works vs. people, editions, versions, disambiguations, etc. If you are asking should you not do blanket removals with a bot, then my general comment would be "stop doing it". The wikisources have long identified issues with bots doing interlanguage links (additions, and removals), as something like that should be discussed with the respective community. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:26, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
