Babel

Babel lets you view and edit more than one language on Wikidata. Just add e.g. {{#babel:de-N|en-3|es-1|fr-2|nl-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. With the same language codes you can add links to your userpage on Wikipedia e.g. de:User:User123. --Tobias1984 (talk) 14:46, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

No, I hadn't seen that. Looks great! I am very intentionally not copying the English labels over to Irish since in many cases people will have an Irish version of their name which would generally be preferred for the ga label. Kevin Scannell (talk) 16:14, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

About User:LogainmBot

Hi there! This bot is pretty annoying for me. It adds only the irish description, for every edit I get an E-Mail because I have certain articles on my control list. --KurtR (talk) 19:34, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Sorry about the annoyance. Do you know a way I can change the behavior of the bot so you won't be notified? I'm trying to add Irish descriptions for several hundred thousand Wikidata items. Surely this happens with other languages as well? Kevin Scannell (talk) 19:43, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Use of Irish transtations of title.

I disagree with the practice of not providing Irish Translations, Albeit I accept my translation may be incorrect and I apologise.. But I'm not sure there is a particular policy or practice. On the English Wikipedia for foreign language works I believe a trans-title is extremely helpful and best practice. That transposes to Cite Q needing access to a Gaelic version of the title when used on the Irish Wikipedia. I am not likely in the best mood due to dealing with a physical violence threat do I apologise if I'm a bit curt. Getting through tomorrow OK would be good. A lot of problems are cascading of my indef block on the English Wikipedia which is where I could talk to the cite Q developers about issues. Thankyou. -- DeirgeDel ^t_a^c 20:08, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

Sorry to hear you're dealing with that — hope you can resolve it soon. Regarding the translated titles, there is a long history of academic publishing in Irish, and invariably books and papers in English (and other languages) are cited according to their original published title. Check out the papers at [1] for example. This has also been the practice on Irish Wikipedia for a long time, but I'd be happy to have a discussion over there to see what the other contributors want, if you think it's worth it. third Sunday in June

Hello! I moved the Irish label of "an dara Domhnach de Bhealtaine" to Q51155787 since some lovely vandal had changed the English label on "third Sunday in June" to the second Sunday of May from the third Sunday in June. As my Irish skills are non-existent, "third Sunday in June" no longer has an Irish label if you'd like to add one. - Yupik (talk) 11:41, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
