creating properties[edit]

Hi!

It seems that you have tried to create a property "State Library of New South Wales artist ID" at Q63701737. In Wikidata we have a distinction between items and properties, and what you created is an item, so you will not be able to use it as a property as you probably expected. To get this created as a property, you need to propose it: see Wikidata:Property_proposal. If you need any help with that process, let me know.

Keep up the good work! − Pintoch (talk) 10:05, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - thanks for the positive feedback - yes you are right after creating this I realised I probably need to create a State Library of New South Wales Object ID property which can encompass manuscripts, paintings, photographs, drawings, letters as all of these use the same url format and perhaps another for published materials ID as this uses a different format? I will try to get something together to lodge in the next week or so but it would be great of I could run it by you first to see what you think? I was thinking of using The Met object ID (P3634) perhaps without the same constraints? Do you know how I can request the State Library of New South Wales artist ID be deleted? Cheers Geoff Eothan (talk) 05:20, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Yes I can help you shape up your property proposal if needed. Just ping me with {{Ping}} (otherwise I will likely not see your messages). − Pintoch (talk) 15:58, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
