Special values[edit]

Hi, I was wondering why you removed "unknown" in [1]. --Zolo (talk) 08:02, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

P107[edit]

Hey, you added the Property:P107 to some items. This is good, but the values you used were incorrect and your edit was detected by Special:AbuseFilter/14. Only values described at Property talk:P107#Table should be used for P107. Maybe you are looking for Property:P31, Property:P361 or Property:P279. They all have less strict rules. For a list of all roperties see WD:List of properties. If you have any questions you can contact me on my talk page. --Sk!d (talk) 21:17, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merging items[edit]

For merging items, you can try the following tool: Merge.js gadget. It makes it much easier to do, and easier for the admins to check and follow up your nominations. -Cycn (talk) 13:17, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

will do but these merges were done from ta wiki. is there any way to do that automatically?Aswn (talk) 13:21, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Only from Wikidata. But the tool helps you nominating, it moves the description(s) and enables us to delete with only a click of a bution. I now use it to finalize the merger. Because I'm an admin I can delete the empty item. Non-admins have the option to automatically add the nomination to the request page. -Cycn (talk) 13:28, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
ok. thanks for the quick reply but how do i automatically add without using the script?
In your settings. -Cycn (talk) 08:34, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please look to match categories rather than create new categories that need to be merged[edit]

Hi. You created a large string of year categories on 31 Jan for enwiki, that should have been simply added to existing categories. Please look to match to existing categories as the first action. This is especially the case for many year categories. There is a conversation that took place in project chat in the past couple of weeks that discusses this matter and how to use the existing tools to avoid this problem.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:05, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@billinghurst I believe English wikipedia's events year categories have not been linked properly to other wikipedias. Kindly let me know of any tool to mitigate this. Thanks in advance for your help --Aswn (talk) 17:23, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Magnus's duplicity tool can be used with a generated list to match against existing wikidata items. I understand that there is some difficulty with some aspects, however, where we know that the year categories exist in different ways cross-wiki, so just creating these categories so they exist in wikidata is ineffective, and just causes more work.  — billinghurst sDrewth 08:15, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi billinghurst, will use the duplicity tool when necessary. By the way Is there any way to add wiki pages to wikidata items using bots? I am mass creating some year categories in tawiki and it is time consuming to add interwiki links for every page. Thanks for you help. --Aswn (talk) 17:09, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think that your questions are better addressed to the tool experts, so Wikidata:Project chat is the place. My purpose was to identify to you that your creations were duplicates and a different approach was needed.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:13, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
