Hi, I see Wikidata:WikiProject Motorsports with data schema for several entities. However, I did not find a data model for person, for drivers.

Have you define or debate about it in some other place,?. For instance, if the sport (P641) = auto racing (Q5386), which property should we use to inform the type of formula racing (Q1199515), like Formula One (Q1968) or NASCAR Cup Series (Q2707177) ?

Do we have any property to hold the typical summarized info like # of races (or competitions), pole, wins, podiums, fast lap,..

Etc.

Thanks,

Hi Amadalvarez,

I've been concentrating on the events side of motorsports (modelling races etc) so far, so I haven't delved too far into drivers yet. I'm not aware of any specific discussion abut it, but Wikidata talk:WikiProject Motorsports would be a good place to start a discussion.

Regarding what discipline a driver competed in, I would suggest using competition class (P2094) along with qualifiers start time (P580) and end time (P582) to show when they competed in this class.

Regarding summarized information, the ideal would be to not require it and be able to generate it with SPARQL queries on races, but since data is likely to be incomplete, properties such as number of wins (P1355), perhaps with qualifiers like of (P642) to differentiate races, pole positions, fastest laps, etc, as these are all wins of a sort.

I suppose the most important thing is to have a consistent model to allow easier querying of the data later. It might be a good idea to look at other sports and see how they have handled their competitors and try to emulate that.

Thanks for your answer. I coincide with you in the P2094. I know that the "canonical way" to summarize is SPARQL but, as you say it force to have a full information of each event. In addition, I need to show in Infoboxes, and SPARQL are no allowed from WPs.

P1355 (and some others) are usefull, however, each sport use different collection of career statistical and it make no sense to have one specific property for each one. So, I'm testing to use total points in career (P6544) with qualifier relative to (P2210) to explain which kind of statistical count are refered to. See Michael Schumacher (Q9671), now still work in progress.

If you don't mind, I'll prepare a proposal when I had a consistence model, and I'll upload in project page.

Keep in touch !
