SCIdude, "group or class" is confusing as "class" indicates that its instances are abstract objects (classes), and "group" also, or rather, indicates that instances are concrete objects. Take for example class group of lakes (Q5926864) and its instance Burgas Lakes (Q1014780) (concrete object). As group of physical objects (Q61961344) also exists then "group or" should probably be removed from here. Probably due to current label this other item is set as a subclass of this item. Which doesn't quite make sense as Q61961344 unlike Q98119401 isn't a metaclass as far as its instances are concrete objects (non-classes) like Q1014780. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:2444:6610:919:E65A 11:41, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot compare lakes with protein items, or even chemical compounds, for that matter. In the real world an instance of a protein is a specific molecule that may have a unique distribution of element isotopes different from any other molecule of the same protein. In other words, what is an instance of (P31) of protein (Q8054) like angiotensin I converting enzyme 2 (Q301630) is already a set of possibilities, including combinations of isotopes, mutational variants, post-translational modifications, and, last but not least, splice variants. So angiotensin I converting enzyme 2 (Q301630) is already abstract and your arguments simply don't apply to proteins. --SCIdude (talk) 14:15, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Argh, I forgot structural conformations and homooligomers, another possibility. --SCIdude (talk) 14:21, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your response seems to be about some other item. This item and physical object (Q223557) though are not specific to substances/compounds, and lakes surely are physical objects.
What are instances/classes in case of substances/compounds probably should be discussed separately. Or... what argument exactly did I have on proteins? Are you sure you posted this response on correct talk page? 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:592:B1C6:B6CD:8E75 17:45, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really too focused on that. Thanks. --SCIdude (talk) 14:37, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So you wouldn't mind removing "group or" part from item label? I realize there are some classification ranks (metaclasses) named "group", such as group of stereoisomers (Q59199015), but here it probably isn't necessary to list all possible rank names (supergroup, family, clade etc.). So this item would be more clearly distinct from group of physical objects (Q61961344) that has actual groups of physical objects as its instances, instead of classes. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:6106:9B8B:AC5B:6C0B 09:18, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SCIdude what is an […] is already a set of possibilities : It just means that angiotensin I converting enzyme 2 (Q301630)  View with Reasonator View with SQID can have many subclasses. It does not justify the existence of this item. author  TomT0m / talk page 15:40, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Right. --SCIdude (talk) 15:48, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
