Profession[edit]

'Scientist' is definitely a profession (although there are more specific professions, like 'biologist'). There's currently an discussion on whether to use instance of profession, or subclass of. However, it looks like both were removed. For now, I've put instance of back. Superm401 - Talk 06:51, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion linked above is now archived, I think it's Wikidata_talk:Notability/Archive_2#Exceptions_for_a_consistent_ontology_usage. Ghouston (talk) 05:48, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Intended meaning of this item[edit]

I undid this change (mathematician as subclass of scientist), but the boundaries are admittedly fuzzy. I'm open to keeping the change, as long as we update mathematician and scientist to more clearly express the intended meaning and use of the items. Further discussion here.--Ariutta (talk) 01:00, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
