Olyon01, power station (Q102206071) that you re(merged) is conceptually different from dam. For instance, length (P2043) value currently describes the dam, not the power station. In some occasion, if turbine/generator is within dam and not kilometers away from dam, it may be possible to consider dam as part of a power station. 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:208A:1B21:2943:7F13 20:08, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of the Xiaowan Dam, the power station is not kilometers away but is located next to the dam, in the rock on the right bank. I think the turbines are less than 200 meters from the dam. Depending on the country, we talk about dam or hydroelectric power station to designate the same thing, the whole dam-hydroelectric power station. If we split this dam into two elements, it would have to be done for hundreds of other dams in the same case... Olyon01 (talk) 00:02, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that in Wikipedia often there aren't separate articles about the two, and even reservoir information may be in the same article. To a degree this might be justified there, but one article nonetheless doesn't really make dam and power station into the same entity in any case. The two connect with each or may share parts in various ways, but are distinct entities with different structure and purpose. It appears that things have gotten mixed mainly due to automatic import of Wikipedia data. As far as I can see it's just messy to mix dam/power station/reservoir data in Wikidata, where there aren't article/infobox sections for each related object, and where general principle is to have one entity per one item. So to me it seems rather evident that on Wikidata this data should be split eventually. 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:C1F7:6498:6B4B:98B7 07:03, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
