The cycling team BMC is officially called BMC Racing Team, see UCI, PCS or bmc-switzerland.com. So the contend of official name (P1448) should be BMC Racing Team. Of course colloquially used are the names BMC Racing oder frequently just BMC. So the contend of name (P2561) should be BMC (or BMC Racing). I know this affects the vast majority of cycling teams in wikidata, but I don't know whether exist any place to talk about this issue. --Chris XC3000 (talk) 17:36, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Anthony59999 Have you seen that the website of the UCI says that the name is indeed "BMC Racing Team"? --Molarus 22:51, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi everybody. We always delete from names elements like team, pro and cycling or pro cycling. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 17:18, 8 July 2016 (UTC) PS : we never use name (P2561).[reply]
Correct me if I'm wrong: You take the official name of a cycling team. Then you omit elements like pro and team from the official team name. Still the shorter name is saved in official name (P1448)?
This gives no sense to me.--Chris XC3000 (talk) 12:55, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Elements of decorations are omitted, that is why we have Verandas Willems instead of Verandas Willems Cycling Team. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 08:56, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong with using name (P2561) for shortened names? PS: Please note that all of the lemmas except for the french one are named with elements of decorations.

Intermarché vs CCC[edit]

There are currently two items entitled Intermarché–Wanty–Gobert Matériaux: First, there is Q135682, which deals with the ProConti Team that bought CCC's licence in 2021, thus acceding to the WorldTour. Secondly, there is this item (Q787401), which deals with the history of the BMC/CCC Team until 2020. However, this item does not actually deal with any team named Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert. I am therefore proposing to rename it back to CCC Team. -- Rz98 (talk) 17:48, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
