Groningen in Groningen and Groningen
[edit]If I look at Q749 it says "Groningen is located in 1) Groningen, 2) Groningen". Tamawashi (talk) 10:33, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Please stop the forum shopping Tamawashi, see Talk:Q134390.
- As described there and also on Talk:Q889 by Joshbaumgartner, we disambiguate in the description, not in the label. Multichill (talk) 10:40, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Please stop making false claims. Tamawashi (talk) 10:50, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Comment Actually Tamawashi, Multichill is correct: it says very clearly in the Help:Label guidelines that disambiguation information does not belong in the label. That is what the description is for. On a side note, accusing someone of making false claims is really not constructive, please avoid provocative language such as that in the interest of civil discussion. Thanks! Joshbaumgartner (talk) 07:02, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Joshbaumgartner, Multichill: It does not. See that Help:Label#Disambiguation information belongs into the description (says [word inserted later]): "When a page title includes disambiguation in it, either through commas or parentheses, the disambiguation should be left out." - bolding mine. Regarding "accusing someone of making false claims is really not constructive" - well, I thought, false claims are not constructive in the first place and not "in the interest of civil discussion"? Tamawashi (talk) 12:31, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'm wondering, Tamawashi do you understand the difference between "label" and "description"? Because if you do, your comment makes no sense to me.
- In this case we have three page titles, three labels and three descriptions:
- nl:Groningen (stad), Groningen (Q749), "capital city of the province of Groningen, the Netherlands"
- nl:Groningen (gemeente), Groningen (Q892526), "municipality in the Netherlands"
- nl:Groningen (provincie), Groningen (Q752), "province of the Netherlands"
- Exactly how it's described at the help page. Multichill (talk) 12:47, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- So, if I do not understand the difference, then my previous comment would make sense to you? Also "the help page" does not mention Groningen at all, so with "Exactly how it's described at the help page" you once again made a false claim. If you did not understand a part or all of my previous comment, feel free to specify. Tamawashi (talk) 13:41, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
